Hi all, i was reading around for days and couldnt find a solution.
My laptop was bought in 2011, yeah its been many years and have no problem. Until about 3-4months ago it started to have random shutdown, the kind which doesnt restart on its own. Then the shutdown happens more frequently n often until current state which shutsowns whenever i use it for 15mins-40mins randomly.
I brought to some neighborhood pc uncle 'which i didnt trust alot due to his random quote' and he told me that my harddisk or windows is corrupted. I rejected his service so i left. I called up my good fren who's experienced in it and told me that this could only be a simple overheating problem, but cut to the chase, we disassembled the laptop, cleaned
away all the dirt from fan, along the circuit board and all the casing lining.
The same thing happened so i redo the whole windows into a brand new windows7 but after using a short while of up to 60mins the random shutdown occurs again.
Sorry for the lengthy post but is there any expert able to rectify this problem?
BTW my laptop is Samsung RF411

Does it happen to have an AMD or nVidia GPU i.e. not integrated Intel?

Oh and btw confirm the fan works?

Do not look like it is fan issue and not windows issue at all.
Look like it is a motherboard issue. This laptop is too old and need to be replaced. I suggest getting Aftershock notebook. Windows 7 is too old and no more patches so it has some vulnerabilities that is not patched. Very dangerous to use.

A 7 years old laptop, time to get a new one. No point wasting money on this old laptop.

It will be cheaper to get a new laptop as nowadays laptop is very cheap and an average laptop is only ~ $800+ to $1599. Recently many patches to patched up vulnerabilities in Windows 10 and lots of improvements but not the earlier version. It is very dangerous to use Windows 7 as your laptop may be the most easy one to attack. When we are online, hacker will scan for the weakest one and target on that and launch an attack. It is time for TS to get a new Windows 10 notebook.

thanks all for the help. i think i will not use that laptop anymore and will be looking for one. that aftershock looks good to me but are the prices ok? been a long time since i go shopping.
currently looking at xiaomi mi notebook as it seems like a good deal.

Well, honestly the price for Aftershock is ok as the spec is high end and can be use by gamer too. It has good parts and warranty. You can even buy EW to 3 years. Aftershock is Singapore brand. Xiao Mi notebook use low end spec. Easy to up the lorry. Any warranty? If after one month go up lorry then how?

My Acer E1 410 laptop also experienced the same issue. In the past I had bad experience going to SLS and I spend money and still the issue came back. So this time I sold the faulty laptop for $120. Not bad for 4 year old entry level laptop.

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 4 using GAGT

If you have a budget constraint, look out for Gen 6 HQ machines which are going for very good prices now. Speed is almost the same as a Gen 7 HQ chip and about $300 cheaper at least.

Do not bother about non HQ chips for Gen 6 and 7.
