Laptop battery replacement issue

my aging laptop had a no battery detected error and runs on electricity only.
i figured it was time to replace the battery and went the diy route.
swopped for a new battery but windows still says no battery detected.
tried uninstalling batt driver in device manager and rebooted but still cant detect.
any ideas whats the issue?

first ya need figure out your new/old battery has any voltage or not. next, also need check ur laptop whilst battery or no battery plug in, the current amount. Best guess is that ur charger circuit is spoilt. usually its some kind of chip. Try to flash ur cmos bios update and see if any effect. i think such issues nobody in singapore can troubleshoot, only the technicians in china knows what to do. its too expensive to do any electronic repairs, people just throw and buy new here.

Let the battery charge for a-bit. Monitor it closely.
Alternatively, another theory is that the replacement battery is faulty.
If you purchased it locally, bring it back to them and see if you can do a swap to test the theory.

Thks I’ll try cmos update first then batt exchange.

Another thing I thought of is the fitting issues. Assuming an external battery. Sometimes compatible batteries have different tolerances resulting in the battery not being detected correctly. You can verify by trying to adjust the battery and see if it could be detected.

if it’s an internal battery, check if the connectors are properly fitted.

could we know what laptop this is in order to properly advise?

Asus vivobook using internal batt
Checked the connector, it’s secure.

Either has a bad battery (sometime is seller never set the chip in battery correctly)
Otherwise, your laptop battery charging circuit may be bad already.

I ever encountered two identical models, but one battery just refuses to work on that particular set.
