Hello, i need help. I dropped my laptop on carpeted floor and it won't boot up. i tried the power discharge reset (HOLD POWER BTTTON FOR 60 SEC w/o BATT AND NO AC) for hours but it still wont turn on. when it's plugged in, the battery led light turns on. i press the ON button, the num lock light blinks once, then the laptop goes blank again.

There is no sound from the motherboard at all.

Can someone help and advise? :(

Under warranty, send in for repair if there is no visible sign of damage.
Out of warranty, time to get a new one. Remove HDD/SSD and slot into a 2.5" casing for use as external HDD.

it's no longer under warranty. And as much as possible, I'm trying to fix it first. Hopefully it's a small matter. Student here, so don't really have money to buy a new one

If the laptop is powered on when dropped, likely HDD is a gone case. In your case, the PCB may be damaged and this result in POST failure too.

Which is your laptop brand and model?

Pretty old brand. Asus u41sv. Have tried both already but still doesn't work. The repairman at my school said most probably motherboard failure.

Thinking of getting a new laptop but not too ex. Doesn't have to be very powerful too.

Requirement: ms office, maybe basic photoshop, run dota 2. Not too heavy, the lighter it is the better.

Any recommendations?

If PCB board broken then don't bother to repair. :(
You can still trade in your U41 if you want. :)

Woo nice. How much would it be worth?

Can PM us the specs? :)
Anyway you can always come by our one-stop showroom at Sim Lim square #05-47.
We have you do a free check first to see whether worth to repair.
if not, you can then choose to trade in and purchase a new one from us. Everything can be done at this location. :)
