Laptop Charger Adapter

I saw this item. Anybody tried ? Does it mean that I can just get a generic Type C charger with sufficient power and connect to the laptop via this adapter ?

Will damage the laptop ?

Generally laptops these days need at least a 60W charger to work on a laptop.
Not just any ordinary charger. You will have to look out for at least one of the 2 keywords - (PD (Power Delivery)) and (GaN) on the product descriptions. Your normal smartphone/tablet fast chargers won't work.

And yes, I use a GaN charger generally because they are smaller than the usual laptop charger, so I can bring around. And it can charge your other devices as well.

But my laptop is Asus and I understand does not support Type C Charging. So I use the adapter with this GaN charger (via Type C), it will work ?

That is why the adapter you found exist lor. It is your Type C port that is unable to draw power and charge. So you will need to get the adaptor in order to plug your cable into the normal charging plug port.

I just got a Prolink 65W GaN charger, very compact and has two USB-C and one USB-A port
it comes with US / UK / EU plug

pair that with a USB C cable that can do at least 65W (say 100W), then you could charge the laptop but it depends on how much faith you have with the el cheapo USB C -to-barrel plug adaptor that you showed in the 1st post

You need a PD charger that can support output of 20v.
These adapter has a build in circuit to configure PD charger to provide 20v output.

it wont damage your laptop. its a cheap way to get usb c charging without the disadvantage of it getting loose over time
