Hi all,

My laptop would intermittently lose internet access. However, it would still be connected to the wireless network, showing "no internet access". Other devices still can be connected and have internet access, so I'll rule out any problem with the wireless network.

All the sifu out there, is this a problem with the wireless adapter?

Laptop is 3 year old Lenovo Y560.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you very much.

I'm not a sifu but maybe you can try using a network scanner like Wifi Analyzer (Android) to check that your wifi channel is not overcrowded.

I had similar problems with my network - one device had issues maintaining a steady connection but other devices were ok. After checking the network congestion, realised my stupid neighbour had changed his wifi channel to same as mine. Switched to a more empty channel and the problem went away. I guess some devices are more sensitive than others.

There are 2 things to verify:
1. wifi signal from router
2. laptop wifi card
For 1, is there other mobile device able to connect to the same band w/o disconnect
For 2, bring laptop to friend house and try to connect to his wifi network

This will help to isolate either router or laptop issue.
