Thinking of getting a laptop for my dad. He will use it to watch videos, do up some excel spreadsheet, surf some webs etc. Minimally, I would like the following specs -
1) Skylake core i series cpu, preferably quad core.
2) min 13" FHD screen
3) min 8gb rams
4) Need to have SSD storage, additional hdd storage would be a bonus
5) Touchscreen and the ability to fold the laptop into a tablet would be an added bonus.
6) No preference between integrated or dedicated gfx, just that if it is dedicated, prefer it to have ddr5 instead of ddr3 Vrams.
7) min 2 years warranty, preferably 3 years or more.
Something like the yoga900 would be great but it is over my budget of 1k-ish.
I am open to all other suggestions for laptops within this price range as well.
I know these are some overkill specs for an elderly but this is the situation - he needs a rather responsive device as he does not have much patience when it comes to load time of application.
My observation of him with an intel atom device leaves much to be desired. Granted the device was running on emmc instead of ssd, which makes giving him a hdd storage laptop that much more of a nightmare
We currently have a HTPC that has i5-3570k, ssd and 8gb ram. I feel that he is at least able to handle it quite well.
Thanks in advance
