Am a macbook user but now need a windows laptop. Looking at preferably below 1k.

Did my homework and this is the one top on my list now. After customising, the specs as below and cost abt 750.

AMD A6-9500B Processor (2MB Cache, 2.3GHz)
8GB(4+4) DDR4-2133MHz SoDIMM
256 GB Solid State Drive, SATA3 OPAL2.0 - Capable

Able to further customise to include at extra 75 bucks:

AMD A10-9600P Processor (2MB Cache, up to 3.3GHz) and
AMD Radeon R5 M430 2GB

Won’t be playing game. Will be mainly surfing net, Microsoft office applications and light photo and GoPro videos editing (not sure if the above specs can do it, pls advise!!)

If there are better laptop that is within my Budget pls recommend! Know nuts pertaining to notebooks. Thanks!!!

No particular reason. Just got the idea that thinkpads are reliable and built to last, power of marketing.

Read up on the difference and find out that A10 are comparable to i5 when it comes to gaming and automatically assume that gaming = can support light video editing. Still doing research and exploring my options so hope that experts can chip in and recommend!!

the amd APUs have pathetic cpus and mediocre gpu. dont be fooled by the specs. just because it has cores and "3ghz", doesnt mean it performs any better than a 5th gen i3

Cost about SGD 930.86 (current exchange rate from Amazon) but it was cheaper during a sale previously (1TB HDD instead of 256GB SSD).

However, how about warranty? Acer provides international warranty?

Amazon does provide a 30 day full refund for any defects found on this product. Not too sure on Acer's part, will have to check with them before purchasing.

Refer to this

http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/itw.htm

Key coverage would be for

"Someone who is temporarily outside the territorial scope of the local warranty covering the respective product, without the intention of establishing a permanent residence."

I am also eyeing an Acer from Amazon, but put off my this condition. Not sure if there are other brands which would honor their products worldwide without condition.
