Laptop Recommendations For Work

Hey guys,

I'm currently using a Dell G3 for the last 4 years and it's starting to give me issues. Getting occasional BSODs and it seems sluggish.

Looking to get a new laptop for work. Would prefer a 15' screen (touchscreen if possible), quiet fan, fast. Don't need good graphics card or other bells and whistles.

I got my eyes on the Lenovo Thinkpads.

There's the Thinkpad L15 Gen2 (AMD) or E15 Gen2 (Intel).

Which one do you guys think is the better model?

Is Thunderbolt 4 necessary?

Budget about $1.5k

Feel free to recommend other brands/models too.

i would go with whichever can give biggest battery. 38-44w is pretty standard. 60wh is great to get 10h battery life. Even if you dont need a big battery, after 2-3 years of using when 10-20% capacity is gone, remaining 45wh is still good.

Thunderbolt is only necessary for external gpu. If you dont use that, the usb c in amd is still decent. Can fast charge and use to output display

Thunderbolt is also needed if your workplace/client's place/home has a Thunderbolt Dock - they are not USB-C compatible.

USB C is more commonly used. but as per above post. If if your Dock need thunderbolt. then no choice.

The Lenovo E15 seems not bad.

I also recommend the LG Gram if you can stretch your budget. I bought a secondhand 2021 unit to save money. They have 2 years warranty.
