Hi, can anyone recommend a laptop which is suited for

1)Video Editing
2)Photoshop
3)Movies
4)Games
5)Music
*in order of importance

Ive been with my last laptop for 5 years. a very very old acer which doesn't even have microsoft. always use notepad...and i'm a uni student fml.

The samsung chronos and y500 are a bit too steep for me. ~$2k++ (still a student :o)

So far, i'm really considering the Aftershock XM17 with upgrades which will come up to $1.7k. (mainly without operating system+extended warranty+the better wireless connection)

Any advice?
-are there any other laptops that are cheaper and perhaps as reliable?
-what about haswell? i read that it has 2x the graphic performance. and it releases in june. should i wait? or will it present a much higher price aka might as well buy now.

Aftershock X11/MSI GE60. If not in rush better wait for haswell.

thanks for the advice :s13: considered aftershock x11. but decided that the screen was too small.

looked at the MSI and it has the same price as the XM17 1.7k~
the processer/RAM/graphic card is the same
but at the same price the aftershock would come with 1 120gb SSD and 1 500gb HDD compared to MSI 1 750gb HDD but without OS(which i have :o)

so the xm17 wins in this case unless i'm missing out smth. thanks for the intro though :s12:

my main concern with haswell is that new tech can be expensive? if it comes out and the laptops cause 2K++ then I probably won't be able to afford it. :s22::( unless it comes out and the laptops still remain around the same price :D

XM17 would benefit from having bigger screen than GE60 but will be less portable as a tradeoff due to size/weight.

Haswell's main benefit is probably going to be the battery life. I doubt the graphics performance boost will be a selling point since you would already rely on discrete graphics for intensive task

You can consider the Lenovo Y580. Its pretty powerful for its price. ;)

I don't think they will increase the price for new laptop batch with haswell. Normally they will just decrease the price for previous generation. If you have your own OS, then just go for XM17 :)
