You can remove the old hdd and get an external hdd dock (2.5 inch) to let it serve as an external hdd for data xfer.
To get it working on a new laptop would be inconvenient on your end - ranging from OS licensing, Drivers, etc.
Granted most laptops now do come with some form of ssd (sata, m.2) , therefore there’s no benefit to transplanting a old hdd at all.
Broken at the base of the laptop. All else working well. If too expensive might buy new laptop and 'transplant' existing hard disk to it but wonder if it will work as it will be different hardware.
