Laptop screen repair?

Hi,

My mom said she would let me have the laptop;
Only if i could repair the screen. Basically the whole screen is dented and cracked, im not sure if the lcd itself is working. It is an acer with a 14" screen. How much would it cost to repair? If its too expensive id rather build my own cpu.
