Laptop sleeve offer enough protection

Currently already have a normal backpack, and not keen to buy yet another backpack specially for a laptop.

Is putting a laptop in a sleeve before putting it into a normal backpack OK? Does a sleeve offer a sufficient level of protection, just curious to know?

depends on what you are protecting against. to me, the laptop slot in a backpack is to protect against cosmetic damage from other stuff in the bag that might scratch your laptop. my opinion is that if u buy a sleeve, it works the same.

Then again, a sleeve or backpack can only offer certain amount of protection, mostly cosmetic. if you drop from 1 metre, any bag or sleeve oso cannot help you much.
