Recent laptops in the market all comes with built in battery, is it recommended to connect the AC power to it when using at home even though the battery is fully charged?

Or is it advisable to remove the AC as the constant charging will reduce the lifespan of the battery?

Thank You

It's a very good question and there are alot of different variations of answers to this question on the internet.

There are many dimensions to this question owing to the correlation of the various factors that affects battery longevity.

Here's my take on it.
Constantly plugging in your laptop via AC would not reduce the lifespan of your battery period. There are charge control circuits in place to prevent excessive charging from occuring.

Rather, it is the heat thay is produced during long hours of usage that would degrade and reduce the life span of the batteries. Therefore it is advised to keep your surrounding temperature cool and use a cooler if you think it is necessary

Lastly. Batteries do have charge cycles aka their life span so as to speak. Constantly discharging and charging contributes to the charge cycle count which then affects battery health and life.

The way one discharges and charges would, too affect battery life span and it is reccommended one does not fully discharge from 100% to 0.
This is called a deep discharge and it is bad for battery health.

I would suggest charging at around 20% or so. Yup. Hope this helps you out :)
