Went to SNEC today for lasik assessment. Doctor told me my cornea thickness is 515 microns. Need go back another time for a 2nd doctor's opinion to see if I can still go ahead for the lasik

I suggest you ask the doctor what is the inner cornea thickness / stromal bed thickness after lasik. I think the minimum guideline is 250 microns although some surgeons may only be comfortable with 300 and above.

Over the 10-year period, there were only 8 confirmed
cases (0.02%) of post-LASIK ectasia. All cases were done
between 2000 and 2002 using a microkeratome, with a flap
thickness of 160 or 180 microns. Preoperative Orbscans did
not show signs of forme fruste keratoconus in these eyes,
and a residual stromal bed of 250 microns rule was adhered
to in all these cases. One patient developed bilateral keratectasia
2 years after myopic LASIK despite a deliberate
undercorrection (to ensure a 250-micron residual stromal
bed). Another patient developed ectasia 2 years after enhancement
surgery (again respecting the 250-micron rule)
and subsequently underwent successfully an automated lamellar
therapeutic keratoplasty procedure

I just went to SNEC again yesterday. I was referred to Dr. Rosman, the head of department. He recommend me for the ASA-LASEK due to my average cornea thickness. Booked the surgery date for the 10th of July.

I was wondering if it's advisable to do epiLasik surgery with just 150 degree short sightedness in each eye?

I'm having 150 degree in each eye with abit of "san guang" and was wondering if i should take up the surgery.

I suggest you can enquire about PiXL from Eagle Eye Centre. It is much less invasive than refractive surgery cos no laser involved.

I went for assessment at both Clearvision & Shinagawa. Due to my high degree (abt 1200 per eye) and high astig (150 per eye), Clearvision can, using their transprk epilasik) reduce my degree per eye by 1050 at most, leaving behind residual of abt 150 per eye. Astig cannot be reduced somehow.

Doc at Shinagawa said he can only reduce by 900 per eye using lasik and made no mention abt transprk which i believe he also does. He advised me to do ICL instead.

Is the transprk machine used by both clinic different? Does Clearvision have a better technology?

ICL

Went to see Dr Cheryl at The Eye Clinic. She quoted me over 16k (10k for surgical related cost + 6420 for lenses) I thought it is way too expensive if compared to those who said they did it for around 8k. Anyone has similar experience?

I don't think it's a new technique. More of a marketing term. Essentially, it's transepithelial lasik. They use laser to ablate the epithelium and shape the cornea.

From what I read, it's an improved vision from epi lasik? Surprisingly, I didn't see much reviews on this.

EEC, clear vision, Shinigawa and jerry Tan eye clinic all provide this technique.

Last December 2016, I did Epi-Lasik at EEC (under Dr Julian). Also, completed all the review check-ups. However, common side-effects like halos and glare still exist after post surgery till now.

Sadly, there are still degree residual leftover.
Left: 25 deg (Astigmatism)
Right: 50 deg (Astigmatism) and 25 deg (Myopia)
* Previously both my degree were 375 (Myopia)

Dr Julian said that he will only proceed with re-surgery (over-correction/under-correction) if the degree residual is above 75 deg.

In my case, my left side is 25 deg [< 75 deg], and my right side is 25 deg [According to Dr Julian, apparently 50 deg (Astigmatism) cancels out 25 deg (Myopia)].

Now, about 7 months after surgery, it had left me no choice to live with this degree residual for the rest of my life. Under low-light environment, vision tends to get blurred and hard to focus.

In conclusion, do consider properly before you proceed with the surgery. You could get perfect 20-20 vision or ended up like me.

I posted a WOT earlier in this thread based on my extensive research for the past couple of months. You can read about it.

Indeed, you're right. EEC does have good records of success rate, but I'm just sharing my encounter. Hence, people considering Lasik surgery, intensive research should done beforehand :)
