For my case, I have thin cornea, so the only option for me is Epi-lasik. Dunno what will ur doc suggest as different clinic has different practice? I guess EEC is the only one that does assessment and surgery on the same day?

I don't think SNEC allows assessment and procedure on the same day. My Lasek with SNEC is scheduled for next Monday. Excited at the same time, feeling a bit nervous

I got back my vision in 2-3 days, after the procedure, best to take taxi or have somebody drive u back because ur vision will be quite blur (with the protective shield all) no pain just need to apply the eyedrops prescribed and within 1 week should be able to get 100% vision.

Not too sure about the rest as my heart only wants Dr Julian Theng... hahahaha. But I do read review that Dr Harold Choi is not bad too. My post 1 week, 1 month checkup is by him anyway.

Just an update on my progress. The last few days eyes is totally tired, like I don't even wanna open my eyes. Like I mentioned, my post 1 day review, eyes totally not painful. However, in the middle of the night at 2am, I woke up to eat painkiller as I dun think I'm able to go back to sleep despite the 'quite' bearable pain.

Woke up at Day 2, eyes starts to feel a little painful, something like u r wearing a dirty contact lense, those 'sour sour' feeling. Had difficulty opening my eyes wide. But still manage to get over it without popping painkiller. Vision not really improved further, but eyes really tired. Can't stare at screen/hp for long. Diligently apply eyedrop every 3 hrly. Nap almost the whole day and I'm amaze that I still can go to slp early at night. I took the painkiller at night though as I scare the previous night episode repeat again. Same goes for Day 3.

Day 4 slightly better, still can go out with my sunglasses on and even watch a movie.

Today is Day 5 and tremendous improvement. Can stare at hp like normal. I think going back to work is no prob at all. Still had my sunglasses on but more to protect my cornea from scarring by the UV light than for the comfort.

I recently did the Intralase Method Lasik aka Wavefront standard bladeless lasik instead of Epi-Lasik and it has become my greatest regret for life.

The surgery went smooth, but now i have severe eye dryness accompanied with weak corneal which i never had prior to Lasik. And these are just top of the ice-berg.

After paying for the Lasik, be it Epi-Lasik or Bladeless Lasik. You will have to spent an additional 2k sgd for the eye drops.

This is not an optional purchase but a must due to the guaranteed side effect of dry eyes. The eye drops can't be purchase at supermarket or retail outlet as it has to be preservative free.

How do i derive this amount of 2 thousand.
1 box of eye drops at 17 dollars.
1 week u will used up 4 boxes.
The dry eyes will persist based on individual, not 3-6 months as claimed by the internet.

For those who are opting for the Intralase Method, please do rest for half an hour at the resting area before going home. I went to the toilet right immediately after the surgery and my corneal flap dislodged.

Please go for a more thorough eye check up before doing Lasik. I have dry eyes prior to lasik but it was not tested during the eye assessment and now i will have to live with severe eye dryness. You can do your eye check up at NUS, NTU and polytechnic eye clinic for a cheaper rate.

Thank you and welcome

Today was my assessment day at EEC. Results shows that i am a suitable candidate. I was told that they have a slot available today. Bite the bullet and I went for it, under Julian Thang. Otherwise have to wait till September.

It was a nervous experience before the procedure. Perhaps the older you get, the more kiasi you become. Before the surgery I was wondering if I am doing on impulse. Message a friend that done it before, he say another old man told him this: If you decide on it, then just do it, don't dilemma, just chong.

Ok so i hooted the slot and do same day. Before going in they will put on surgery robe, clean your eyes, then comes the wait.

So it came my turn. I lie down on the bed and they clamp my eye. Then for 30 seconds they put this thing i believe is cutting the cornea flap and u will black out, and then comes the burning smell of the laser.

My right eye was first to be corrected. Immediately after the laser is done, I can see the difference already. However, my left eye has some difference. Turns out the cornea skin is loose. I not sure what he means but right now is more hazy on the left eye. It is not due to this lasik but is a pre existing condition I not know before. Anyways tmr review will ask him more about it.

Final bill came up to be below. Will post again tmr after review

Edit: Thanks to this thread and I quote Ethan Goh as referral and got $300 off

Just finished my Lasek surgery @ SNEC. Vision wise, can see about 60%. No pain or discomfort throughout the whole process, I think the anaesthetic drop really works well. However, doctor advise that I may experience some pain and discomfort in the coming days. Will report back in the coming days.

Right now my eyes feel teary though.

I think you need to get an assessment done to know. Snec vs private I do not see much cost difference.

Thank you for your reply!

Anyway i noticed some people are very particular about the doctors.. i assumed that the surgery is done fully automatic via the machine? so why is the skill of the doctor important?

Finished review. Gave me his book, a photo of me and him finishing the op, and cookies.

He said left eye cornea skin loose not a problem, but he is leaving the contact bandage on the left eye on to protect it further, and remove it 1 week later

After the contact bandage is taken out, i feel much comfy on the right eye but somehow when rolling eyeball can feel the edges of the flap (not sure is psychological)

2nd day:

Swollen eyes with stinging sensation in both eyes. Hardly able to keep my eyes open. Went to see my surgeon for post op day 1 review. Doctor says my eyes very clean, perfectly ok. If everything goes well, next Wednesday will remove bandage contact lens.
