Hello! I did use a referral code by quoting my mum’s name as she did the lasik a couple years before I did.

Took me about 9 days to go back to work.

My degree was L: 550 R:650

Did u use any referral code? How long before you can go back to work?

Age when I did LASIK: 22

Pre-Lasik
You have to book an appointment for a suitability evaluation. On the day of the appointment there will be several tests done e.g. checking the degree, thickness of cornea, pressure tests. The evaluation costs about $40 and took approximately 45 minutes for me (due to waiting time).

Doctor might recommend that you try staring at a dot for 1 full minute in preparation of the Lasik, should your eyes pass the test and is suitable for Lasik.

Also you can the make an appointment for the actual lasik surgery day.

During the actual day
Payment will be made when you arrive, you can choose to pay in full or via installments.

A suitability test is performed again and the degree of your eyes will be checked. You will be brought to a room to see a short video on the various type of lasik and to understand the process you will be going through.

Subsequently before the surgery, an eyedrop was used to dilate the eye and after awhile, I was brought into the surgery room.

Anesthesia was dropped excessively into the eyes. The lasik is done one eye at a time and you will have to stare at a green dot for about a full minute. During the lasik I smell a burning smell (which is common), so don’t panic!

Hi all. I jumped the gun and made an appt for lasik procedure with EEC for Thursday 18th July. I told them I want to do the checks and surgery on the same day, if possible.

But came back home last night and read through many pages of this thread. Seems like EEC is not exactly the top choice. Seems like Shinagawa is really popular. Or even Clearvision.

Anyone got suggestions? Scared that I am making the wrong choice for EEC sia.

I have booked my appointment for eye checks under clear vision. You can try attending the talk by the doctor first. I attended 1 talk and i think that he is a good doctor. He will also answer any question that you have and even stay back after the talk to answer any other questions that you did not have the chance to ask. i think they will have another talk in oct and nov.

Hi, tks for the code. was unable to pm back due to lack of post. what about post op. was it painful for the first 45 mins when the nurses help to put the eye drops?

Hello, I called and they mentioned $200 off if paid off in full. With referral code its $300, so its still an extra $100 which is still a decent amount!

If there is a difference of 300 degrees or more (3 diopters) between my two eyes, I can use Medisave to pay for Lasik right? Mine is like 500 degree difference.

If so, only government hospital can do Lasik with Medisave or those private ones like Shinigawa also can?

I think any centre can claim from medisave as long as you hit the requirements. Best to double check with the staff.

I just did mine recently at Shinagawa.

Recovery went well but unfortunately had stomach flu as I ate sth wrong. Slept for whole day during 2nd day. Just nice good for recovery.

So far no issue and I have been using my phone since day 3.. >_<

Over the past month I have been finding out more about laser eye corrective surgeries and this is my brief overview for Shinagawa, Clearvision and Natasha Lim.

Shinagawa - Made an appointment with Dr Lee and underwent necessary eye checks. To be frank the eye testing equipment seemed dated (the optician had to guide my head with her hand to position correctly for one of the machines!). Perhaps machines have extra wear and tear from the popularity of this place based on this forum. The tests seemed comprehensive - even had some cornea poking to go with it (only one out of the three to do so). At the consultation with Dr Lee, I felt that he was going through the motions and rehearsed running through the 3 points without pause and opportunity to have a conversation till the very end. Dr Lee told me upfront that the procedure usually has a 96% success rate but since i have high Myopia, the success rate would be 92%. One of my question to him was whether the latest idesign lasik technology was good and he just dismissed it by saying that his machine is more advanced and better! At the end of the consultation I was told that I had dry eyes (which is news to me so far in my life I have never felt it before), I was prescribed eyedrops to use and was told that they will recheck dry eyes again before any surgery :/

Clearvision - Another popular choice on this forum. The checkups went smoothly although the rooms were a bit cramped but no complaints. Meeting with Dr Tony went well and he definitely left a good impression and addressed my questions to the point. Asked Dr Tony if I had dry eyes and he said no (this was just two weeks apart from Shinagawa plus there was Haze during and leading up to my Clearvision check up!) Overall was happy with how the consultation was done. Will definitely be first choice if I decide to do Trans PRK.

Dr Natasha Lim Eye Centre - Had to wait 45 minutes before the eye checkup started. Checkup went smoothly when it started. Curiously the young optician recommended me to try monovision to "prolong" my enjoyment of lasik treatment as I was "older" than most patients (I am 31). Was a bit surprised that she recommended monovision. Wore the monovision goggles for 30 minutes and definitely not a fan, the viewing angles close up is odd and far vision is blurred. At the consult with Dr Natasha she told me straight up that I am too young for monovision! Between the 3 doctors I was most impressed with Dr Natasha as she is very confident and to the point. She spent some time going through medical history with me and conducted a more thorough close up eye check than the other two Doctors. She also informed me that her success rate (i.e. less than 50 residue myopia/astig) is at 98% and so far she had 0 patients who encountered ectasia under her treatment.

Conclusion - Most impressed with Dr Natasha Lim Eye Centre among the 3 clinics I visited. Noted that they also use the latest idesign lasik technology which is also used by Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Will take a few days to consider but definitely leaning towards Dr Natasha if i proceed with Lasik corrective surgery - all 3 clinics similar price range. Hope this review helps out fellow forumers!

Here is the TRUE story of someone I know...


In Nov 2018, the patient went for Epilasik to correct myopia. Prior to the procedure, the patient did not suffer from any eye issues. After the procedure, the patient's life was turned topsy turvy by a host of eye issues the patient suffer till date. The patient's eyes

a) became hypersensitive to light
b) tear daily whenever the patient uses the PC excessively which affected her work.
c) suffer from fluctuating and blur vision, which means the patient can't see small words on my PC from time to time which also affected her work.


The patient also had to be hospitalized twice this year for cornea abrasions and conjunctivitis.


The procedure wrecked havoc on her life. Her eyes will act up with new issues like sudden swelling of the eyelids, etc. every few weeks, or even days. The patient have to take time frequently away from work to rush to see the Dr, be hospitalized or rest at home.


Her situation is exacerbated by the fact that her job requires her to use the PC all the time and be in an air-con office which worsen her severely dry eyes.


It has been 10 months and the patient is nowhere near recovery.


It resulted in so much emotional distress that the patient attempted suicide by a drug overdose and had to be hospitalised.


Warning to the public: Please think carefully before going for any elective aesthetic procedures as the side effects may leave you worse off than before! Although some of the risks maybe low, but if you happen to be the unlucky one, the side effects can be fairly dire. Doctors also may not inform their patients of risks that are rare, and they will not be blamed for it.

Patient asked if the blurring could be due to other causes apart from the poor cornea surface, ophthalmologist maintained that it was because of it.

Finally patient had to point out that it could be due to the eye pressure, which ophthalmologist didn't check.

Ophthalmologist in a Public Hospital
Informed that steroid eyedrops should be prescribed under strict supervision.

Make it a point to check patient's eye pressure at every consultation while on steroid eyedrops.

Did not know how to treat the patient's dry eyes after the 2nd hospitalisation.

Prescribed a range of eyedrops that were not essential to patient's eye condition.

Did not whether to use a more potent eye drop or place plugs in tear ducts. Claimed he needed his senior, the founder of clinic, to see the patient first. But the appointment was 4 weeks away. Meanwhile, the patient's condition deteriorated further.


Founder of the clinic, opted to remain silent while he was CC in patient's distress emails. He also refused to refund money for the epilasik procedure, which patient needed for the long-term/lifelong eye treatment. Clinic has been waiving the consultation fee since Feb but patient does not dare to return for treatment given the repeated lapses. Founder of the clinic claims that they have done their best for the patient.

Warning to the public: Well-known pte clinics may not always have the best service level and clinical practices.

Complications in eye corrective surgery do happen since this surgery is not 100% risk free. Lets just heed the advice and be aware of the risks involved before making a decision.

I was researching TransPRK all over the internet within Singapore & outside, and stumbled upon this forum, after reading the thread from last year til date, I decided to register and hopefully will get more further info from you or others here who had experienced TransPRK with Dr Ho. Was looking around for the same eyesight degrees, mine are 6.00 for both with new astig around 0.50 right and 0.75 left. Did you take any multi-vitamin to heal faster?

Will see Dr Ho on 19th Oct for first eye evaluation, hopefully he will give a green light for the surgery. And if he did, would you mind giving me your referral code?

Hello! It isn’t painful during the first 45 mins when the eye drops are being applied. There was certainly some discomfort but not pain. Also my eyes teared uncontrollably the first 2 days and it was quite sensitive to sunlight (thus the sunglasses provided is needed!) But all is good.

Hello! Very welcome! I didn’t take any multi-vitamins other than the one that was provided. It is basically some Vitamin C and Zinc (the type that dissolved in water). They will provide the first set and ask you to drink it over a period!

I purchased more from Watson’s/ Guardian cause it was cheaper than getting it from the clinic. I actually continued taking it for like half a year just because I think I really needed the vitamins (and I bought a lot cause it was cheaper, HAHA)

I agree! Lasik is not 100% risk free & if you don’t take good care of your eyes post-lasik, you risk having myopia again!

To be honest, as someone who was given a second chance to live without glasses/ contact lenses every day, saving me from the hassle and giving me the opportunity to see underwater (e.g. swimming/ diving), I really appreciate the chance to see clearly again.

A year into Lasik, I experienced a scare. (I’m actually in a job which require me to constantly stare at a computer screen, working through the night sometimes.) There was once I worked till 2am in the office and my vision blurred, to the extent I couldn’t read what was written on my computer screen and it gave me a headache. I quickly left and went home to rest and learnt not to strain my eyes to this extent again.

Complications in eye corrective surgery do happen since this surgery is not 100% risk free. Lets just heed the advice and be aware of the risks involved before making a decision.
