My friend just told me he is going to Korea to do LASEK at a reputable clinic. Price is around S$1.9k. After including airtickets and cheap accommodation, about 3k. I guess that's okay, he gets a free holiday in Korea compared to doing it in Singapore.

Just went for my lasik surgery + cornea cross linking this morning at EEC.

Was the first patient for the day. Ate five pills in total. Panadol thingy and gastro pills (need to chew before swallowing. Yucky) Suited up.
Assistant dropped numbing eye drops, antibiotics eye drops and applied iodine on my eyelids.

I enquired about the procedure with the assistant .

Was ushered into the operating theatre soon.
Dr Theng went through the whole process with me.

Right eye first:
Pasted like a sticker over my eye then some instrument to keep my eye open. Shortly, the clamp came down (pupil should be looking down at this point of time) and total darkness ensued in my that eye. U can feel some pressure and discomfort but it was manageable. Then the lasik procedure started. Key thing is to focus on the green light. Vision went blurred and that’s when u smell some burnt smell. After that, doctor sprayed some yellow brown liquid into my eye and I was shifted over to the UV light machine for cross linking. Focus on.red light.
All along, the assistants will be dropping saline water to wash and hydrate ur eyes.

Repeat for left eye. My left eye felt more pain and discomfort during the clamping. And subsequently during the lasik procedure, my reflex was also stronger due to the stinging sensation. But just keep focusing on green light.

Lasik ended. Things now look much clearer with previously without specs. Just v hazy. Took the mandatory picture with dr Theng. :)
Was whisked outside where it’s packed now. Rested awhile.
Proceed with payment. Was given the sunglasses - wear when outside, protective glasses - so that u Dn subconsciously rub ur eyes, two boxes of fake tears - one drop per eye every fifteen mins for the first hour and as necessary when needed. I kiasu. I dropped one drop per eye every hour after that, two eye drops - once every three hours with a five minute interval for The Eye to absorb.

I left the clinic after two hours from my appointment time. Not much discomfort or pain at this point of time.

When I was home, four hours after my appointment time when I was having my lunch, I kept tearing and felt the stinging sensation in both eyes. It was just constantly there for quite some time. Couldn’t really open my eyes. Dropped The Eye drops and I quickly went to sleep.
The discomfort and stinging pain was gone when I woke up. Just felt dry.

So the whole day, I just sleep and sleep and dropped eye drops.
Hopefully 6/6 vision comes soon!

So how is your eyes after 2 weeks? :s13:

1 month post epi lasik update.
Went back to EEC for 1 month review. Still have both degree and astig in both eyes. However doctor told me that everything is normal, and that having residue degree at one month stage is normal. My eyesight will still continue to improve. Tried to ask about enhancement but got brushed off by the doctor instead as he said enhancement can only be discussed 7-8 months after surgery. Anyone has been to similar situation before? My eyesight is still very blur overall and it's hampering my daily life. I have trouble looking at my laptop and differentiating certain numbers. My full time job is starting soon which requires me to look into the computer screen
For long hours. Will my recovery be hampered if I use temporary specs? Anyone kind enough to provide some explanation? Thanks.

Hello Wanderlustz, hope your vision fully recovered by now

Can you update on how your recovery went and the time it took as I feel like I am in the exact same predicament as you were in.

Did epilasik + cross linking at EEC with Dr Theng 1 month 1 week ago and till now my vision has been blur (no fluctuation as it has never been a day of clear perfect vision). At my one month review they just told me to wait it out as they can’t confirm if it is undercorrection or just vision fluctuation during recovery. And I have not been able to get back to work as I am unable to do laptop work.

I am started to worry and I am running out of leave so I would really appreciate if you can let me know how your recovery progressed!

To Wanderlustz and MatchaAddict,

I had posted similiar encounter as Wanderlustz here. Like what Dr Theng said, blurred vision seems to be common. Having trouble under low lighting environment.

Also, he did brush off and wasn’t keen when enhancement procedure is mentioned during the discussion.

Currently i’m about 1.5yrs post surgery, still trying to manage my eyesight.

So how is your eyes after 2 weeks? :s13:

Hi,

i only experience slight discomfort after the 1st day.
I still see halos. My visibility at night is rather low.
I experience blurred vision at night as well.

But my left eye is much clearer than right.

On the 5th day after the operation, my right eye felt very dry and it has been feeling tired and dry from time to time since then (especially at night).

So far, i still think its alright. I hope the dryness disappear and my right eye can be much clearer.

To be honest not much difference, if you use referral quote $300 off.
Or if you pay with credit card also the same $300 off.

I did my LASIK at SHINAGAWA and Dr Lee was really very detailed.
Chose Shinagawa instead of Clearvision. Because Clearvision doctor only talk to me for 1min after I waited so long? and I had to remind him that his assistant who checked my eyes told me that I may need cross-linking-.- (only then he replied, yea, I will add the cross-linking for you). Whereas Dr Lee took almost 10minutes to talk to me and told me I can opt to do cross linking on only one eye and provided me an option.

I had friends who did theirs at W Eye Clinic Singapore and at Eagle Eye Centre.
My friend who did at EEC did not completely recover his sight (still left with 100 Astigmatism) and he is annoyed at how the doctor replied and handle his inquiry.

W Eye clinic seem to have some promotion for sign-on personnel.

PM me if you need the referral code for Shinagawa.

Lasik @ Atlas

Hi,

Just here to share my experience, hopefully it helps.

Both eyes 2.5 degree, have slight astig but cannot remember what it was.

I am post 3 weeks after doing SMILE wtih Dr David Chan at Atlas.

Pre-Lasik

I had a comprehensive eye checkup done by the nurses at Atlas. Just have to call them up to arrange, quite affordable also. At the end, I met with Dr Chan where he check my eyes again to tell me which procedures I was eligible for - which was all. I decided to go with SMILE cause I did not want to deal with flap related issues next time, and did not want to suffer the long recovery time for surface ablative procedure. I paid 4.9ish k, but I think the prices went up. Can check out on their website, quite transparent.

Lasik and Post-Lasik
Lasik day nothing eventful. They will do another check before you go into the theatre. The nurses were friendly, answered all questions, and even kept you company while waiting for your turn. It was such personal touches to service that truly amazed me. Headed into the operating theatre where Dr Chan awaits. He will in a very friendly and calm way explain each step that you are undergoing. For example, while youre looking up the machine into that red dot, he will calmly tell you that it will disappear soon and not to be worried. When doing each eyes, the nurse will also count down for you so you know what to expect.

Everything was very bright after. I went back and crashed for the day (woke up here and there to drop medications). The next day, my eyes were perfectly fine already. I could see very well, handle the brightness as well, and minimal halos and starburst. Met Dr Chan 1 day after and 1 week after, where everything was perfect with 6/6 vision. Over the next few weeks, my eyesight fluctuates. So things within approx 4-6metres, I can see quite clearly. But things will still be blurry at further distance(of course, not expecting super vision at marvellous distance lah. Seeing the doctor for post 1 month review soon.
