Lasik eye Surgery

Alright so it's day 5 after surgery (I had mine done on 3rd Dec). SafeSight TransPRK + CXL

Had a long wait for the surgery. While I arrived early at around 10.15 as requested, the surgery only took place around 12+ and ended at 1pm.

First 2 hours after surgery was absolute hell. While I could see, it was extremely blur and my eyes were tearing non stop. I just kept trying to close them. I somehow walked to Taka, took a cab home (I could barely open my eyes to tell the driver to turn left or right), popped a painkiller and went to bed.

Woke up in the evening it was better but everything was blurry. Thankfully they labelled all the eyedrops with huge red markers - I could NOT read any texts at all. Despite maxing the font out on my phone and having it in bold, everything was difficult to read. Had my dinner but skipped the painkillers as it wasn't hurting anymore. I did pop a sleeping tablet they provided as I couldn't sleep though.

Day 2: was uneventful, no phone no tv no nothing. I couldn't read anything still, and resorted to taking screenshots of messages and zooming in on them to see.

Day 3: went back to the clinic for scheduled checkup. By now I did not like lights at all. I could see relatively comfortably in the dark but every bit of light was annoying to me. Doc mentioned that since my degree was quite high (600 + 200 astig) per side, I should remove the protective lenses on Monday instead to allow for more healing.

Day 4: still extremely sensitive to light, but texts are starting to get clearer. I'm starting to appreciate sleep as each time I wake up I feel like things are clearing up.

Day 5: I can read the bold text on the bottles now! Sleep is definitely your best friend during these 5 days. But as of now I am thoroughly bored - hence the post here.

Will update again on Monday when I remove the protective lenses. And no I'm not being paid for any of my comments here.

I just did my procedure with Dr Ho on 5dec and I am currently dying of boredom hahaha. I think I slept 60/72 hours in the first 3 days and I can't sleep anymore...

Day 7 from op - bandage lenses removed and a whole new cocktail of eyedrops meant to test my memory is given. These new drops cost an additional $62.60 and are not included in the original surgery amount. Forgot to add that at the first follow-up consultation there was also a slightly bigger bottle of eyedrops given - charged at $13.

Vision is still blur, and my fonts on pc/phone still look like they're meant for the pioneer generation, but I've been told it should improve dramatically within the next week or 2.

We'll see. Pun unintended.

Omg... why does it sound so scary now... then did you use any referral? How much did they deduct. Did they also ask when the people who referred did the surgery etc?

I didn't use any referral but I spoke to their biz dev guy who was nice and gave me a bit of discount coz I did CXL as well.

My understanding from him is you can quote the names of those bloggers that help them advertise to get a slight discount around $60 - $120

How's your vision now? I am day 11 into recovery and the words on my screen is still blur. In terms of clarity I would say mine is around 60-70% only?

Same.... I think looking at words are damn difficult. I need to squint really hard. What's your degree like? They did mention that higher degrees take longer.....

ok.. so it is the same for you. I was worried that they under corrected for me and I might have to go through this whole process again. ok but at least we are on the same boat it's tough to be on a desk job with this vision!

Visited the doc today for follow-up and he mentioned to expect it to take another 2 - 3 weeks for the blur to clear up. Glad I chose to do it in early Dec instead of late Dec like I originally planned.

Next follow up visit in another 2-3 weeks in Jan.

Did my Lasik at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) last month. Just a short review for others considering abt doing the Ops.

I did my Lasik with Dr Rosman (90% of patient in SNEC did their lasik with this doctor - he is the head consultant). The place feels more like a high class private clinic than a public hospital.

Had my pre-Op evaluation on 26 Oct and was scheduled within 2 weeks for the Ops. Quite lucky that my pre-Op evaluation turn out good and i am eligible for the Lasik Bladeless (most common procedure).

The actual Ops was painless (the nurse will put numbing eye drop before the Ops) and the doctor was v reassuring. I was able to see pretty clearly right after the Ops. In the next few hours, there is this "onion in the eyes" feeling becos the effect of the numbing eye drop had gone out. But after that everything back to normal and 90% of vision is back. Recovery for next few weeks were good just a little bit of dry eyes.

My total cost till date is $4050 inclusive of pre-Ops evaluation, Lasik Ops, Check up 1-day after Ops, Check up 1-week after Ops and Check up 1-month after Ops inclusive of all the medication required. (Excludes a final check up 3-months after Ops which should be ard $150).

MCs were given for every appointment including pre-Ops evaluation and all check ups so you do not have to waste ur leaves to do the Ops.

The staff were attentive and professional in explaining the Ops Procedure and costs involved.

Overall v pleasant experience.

Yea I did! Kept checking my eyes for eyelashes but I think that's due to the dryness in the eye and you just have to keep spamming BSS. I stopped feeling that sensation after ~1 week.

Visited the doc today for follow-up and he mentioned to expect it to take another 2 - 3 weeks for the blur to clear up. Glad I chose to do it in early Dec instead of late Dec like I originally planned.

Next follow up visit in another 2-3 weeks in Jan.

Haha same.. Didn't expect the recovery to take so long. I visited the Doc yesterday and he told me everything is healing well.

it's day 23 into recovery and words are getting slightly clearer now. Still abit blur when it comes to numbers tho.

It actually isn't that bad except for when I wake up after sleeping. Other than that I don't really feel it, especially with the schedule for eyedrops happening almost every hour.

It's only gotten dryer recently since I'm now only using 2 different kind of drops instead of the original 4 types. I picked up an extra box of eyedrops while overseas since it was cheaper as well.
