Encountered fraudulent credit card transaction and their hotline (both toll free and non toll free) is down again today.

Worse thing is that unlike other banks which has another number to dial for urgent fraud cases or even live chat, Maybank one can only l dial the universal hotline then redirect to fraud extension. End up have to go to down to the branch to report. Huge security concern.
Their app no kill switch?

Same as me, also Amazon UK around $50+. Totally no SMS or app notification for the transaction and I only noticed it when I check the unbilled transactions.

I called many times from 3 pm to 4 pm the hotline instantly gets cut off. Tried with 2 mobile phone (having different telco) and landline also cannot.

Likely their hotline got issue.
One time same thing happen when I called Great Eastern Life hotline, keep cutting off without ringing. Fedup! I go straight to their office at Pickering Street, short distance from my place.

Did they tell you reason ?

Maybank told me it's becoz too many ppl calling in and the line cannot take in that's why there is not even a ringtone / connection

Maybank kill switch is for online banking access only. Cards don't have lock or kill switch feature.
Malaysia banks somewhat do things differently. Previously a relative remit some money to me from maybank Malaysian. But Maybank deposited 3 times more than the initial amount. 4 figures become 5 figures :flash:

After i saw it, i immediately call Maybank hotline to report it ask them crawl back. But Sg side says its nothing to do with them. Ask me contact Maybank Malaysia. Imagine my relative has to take leave go all the way down to the branch where the money is remitted to report it then they freeze my account and crawl back after days

-_-

After this incident i always have a set of different expectations from foreign banks.

Receive 13.45% of your single premium every year — guaranteed and payable from the end of Policy Year 1 to 9.
13.45% x 9 = 121.05%
21.05% / 9 = 2.34% p.a.
How to derive the guaranteed yield of 4% per annum?
Exactly my tot. When i chance upon this same promo on Facebook a few days ago, i kept thinking its a gimmick cos i only get 2.3388% pa and not compounded interest. It means the other 1.67% is unguaranteed.

that would be false advertising as it's clearly stated on their website it's *guaranteed yield of 4% per annum*

Treat this as a loan to Manulife @ 9 years 4%. They are repaying the loan yearly, this repayment includes principal + interest. So yearly the principal is reduced, meaning the interest rate goes up.

interesting perspective. thanks for sharing.

how do we calculate how much principal is being reduced year-by-year?
