Late 2011 17" Macbook Pro UPGRADES ?

Hi there everyone,

I just have a 2 burning questions to ask with regards to my Late 2011, 17" Macbook pro 2.4ghz.

1) Can I upgrade it to the 2.5Ghz 8mb L3 cache processor (after market) ? Or any other higher end processor?

2) Any recommended SSD to replace the default 750GB one ? I'm thinking of getting a Crucial M500 960GB SSD, any thoughts on this? I believe will need an external 2.5" SATA to USB enclosure, a Torx 6 screwdriver, Carbon Copy Cloner and a philips head screwdriver (which size though?) to open the back panel? By the way could I use LION RECOVERY instead of Carbon Copy Cloner ?

3) I've manually upgraded the ram to 16GB (2 x 8GB) (I can't remember what philips size of philips screwdriver i used >.<). With the up and coming mavericks OSX, would I be able to upgrade it to (2 x 16GB) to 32GB ?

2) it's better to do a clean install when moving to a ssd. Start afresh don't clone.

In response to 2), how would I retain all my installed software then? And my Recovery partition as well? My MBP did not come with any recovery disks.

In response to 3), I'm not looking for 32GB Ram chips. I'm looking at 2 x 16GB SO-Dimm chips for laptops.

2) As mention by negativzero i also recommend fresh install.
3) If i did not remember wrongly there are only 8GB ram chip there isn't 16gb or it might be just me don't know the current news. Cause if there's 16gb chip a max upgraded Imac ram can hold 64GB ram instead of just 32. Lastly even if it does i don't think your Mac can support the 32gb Ram. Max for macbook i think it's 16gb
