Great... I RMA-ed my Seagate HDD and recieved an email later on on 14 dec 2010 that my order is shipped using BIFORST LOGISTICS with a tracking number.

It's been 4 days since I received that email and still no sign of HDD coming back to me... It's nearly 2 weeks from the date I RMA-ed my HDD, does it take that long? I've seen people posting that they got their HDD back in about 7 days. Any idea what you can do with the given tracking number?

My hitachi HD need to be sent out. It is still under warranty. They say that I need to put it in a ESD bag. And in between foams, in a box. I know you can get foams and box in singpost. Any idea where to get ESD bag?

hey guys I'm RMA-ing my WD 640GB black. So what do I have to do after printing out the RMA label? Go to the post office and send using postpac envelops? Is that acceptable or do I have to use the box.

hi guys, i have a seagate 1tb external HDD, i dropped it and it doesn't work now, how do i go abt repairing it?? can i still save the data on it? i think only the connector the usb goes into is spoilt as its movable now. help is appreaciated.

can i bring it to any computer repair shop and see if they can repair it?

For Samsung HDD , I suppose Powermatic is still the distributor? Got a question regarding Powermatic. Is there still a service centre located at SLS? Their website seems to sugesst not:

its at Pasir Panjang, SUTL House, level 2~ just collected my WD 1.5TB few days back~ waited almost 1mth to get bk my HDD~

Sent in my WD Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB and get a replacement of Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB.
An Upgrade?

My WD passport essential 500GB just died within 3 months of use...
at first only clicking sound... now totally not accessible... I guess those data in it also gone?

I got it from Challenger... wonder if I can send back to them for exchange or do I need to exchange it from WD RMA procedure?... which would take longer time...

In mean while... I guess I need to get another HDD to backup my data...
need a reliable one this time...
so far, oviation and WD gives me bad impression... not durable!

So any recommendations?

Challenger doesn't do RMA for you.

It all depends on your luck with hard disks. People have different experience with different brands. I have had Samsung as the worse for me as it failed 100%, even RMA brand new set failed again. Toshiba Art Series failed after 4 months, Iomega (Samsung inside) failed after one month. However I have had success with WD, Hitachi and Seagate. So far been using them for years with no incident.

However, if you read the forums there are people cursing Seagate like hell. So even if someone recommends a good brand like WD, there is no guarantee it won't fail as what you have experienced.

My WD Black 1T HD is giving out loud "clacking" noise while accessing. But diagnostic software indicated no error. The "clacking" noise is intermittent. Can I do a RMA? Do I have to remove the data inside before I send it back?

If I were to RMA multiple Harddrives via post to Western Digital Flextronics direct, where exactly do I buy those packaging / box / bubble wraps etc to protect the HDD as per mentioned on the site for mailing back to RMA huh?

Anyone have experience mailing harddrives for RMA before, would really appreciate some help here

RMA hitachi Hardisk

If you prefer to hand it over personally, you can hand it to the UPS SCSaddress in the RMA notification. I'd recommend calling them beforehand so that they know when to expect you.

Alternatively you can hand the hard drive over to Singpost Post Centre HQ.Please bring along a printout of the RMA notification email otherwise they will not accept the hard drive.

Is the Singapore Post Centre still doing this collection on behalf of Hitachi? My 1Tera hitachi hardisk have just fail me after using the driver fitness test, just bought the hardisk last year.
