Have you all encountered before? I thought rechargeable batteries do not leak.

I used 3 of them in a clock. 1 x GP and 2 x Eneloop. One of the eneloop leaking and is a clear liquid.

What device you use the batteries for?
Edit: I just read your post again that it's a clock. I read somewhere long time ago that clocks should use normal battery rather than rechargeable. Can't remember the reason.
Also one shouldn't use different brands of NiMh batteries in the same device.
You got overcharge or overdischarge? What charger you using?
Either that or you got fake Eneloop?

low power low voltage items like clock and remote tiagong better to use non-alkaline like carbon-zinc battery.

Where did you bought the eneloop? Most of the eneloop online are fake, except the official Panasonic store. Compare the battery against how to check for fake eneloop websites. Even smallest details like gap between the words, fonts style, packaging ink colour must check.

When you mix battery, the stronger battery would cause the weaker battery to leak.
Your typical non-rechargeable is 1.5 voltage while rechargeable battery is 1.2 volt hence your eneloop leak.

FYI ikea rechargeable batteries are eneloop and their 2450 mAh is eneloop pro for like 12 dollars for a pack of 4.

it’s previous generation of eneloop batteries but it’s much better then fake ones online.

why would you use eneloop in a low power draw item like a clock? you can just use a eveready battery.

How much you bought those eneloops?

Ladda is not eneloop. There is only one nimh battery factory in japan. All nimh battery labeled made in japan are made in same factory. Difference is in the secret sauce.

The lower capacity are better for everyday use. The higher capacity has higher self discharge and lower lifespan.
