Is there any way to learn Sharepoint development for free using free or 30 days time-limited trial tools and SDK from Microsoft? I am just exploring and tinkering with this in my free time as a hobby to gain some experience.
AFAIK, Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation is free with a licensed copy of Windows Server. So in a way, it is not entirely free.
For development, most likely we need the Sharepoint Server, which is not free. Not sure if there's a time-limited trial.
For the IDE, it may be possible to use the free Visual Studio Express. However, I am not sure it comes with the necessary development libraries or components for Sharepoint development.
