I agree with you. I don't want to learn something just to regurgitate them in examinations.

The test might be a gauge to the "proficiency" of my lingual ability, but like you said, it's lacking in other aspects.

I might consider not taking the test altogether. That saves me trouble and stress, and allows me to set my own pace.

im interpresting that sentence as a question:

あきらめ____________

A: ければ
B: なら
C: なかった

i did not change anything except for adding the line and A: B: C:. if it is indeed a question as i predict then bunpou is correct.

ます-form+れば (Group 2)

あきらめければー＞u find in the dictionary for me?

And なら、 ur front, u have to use 普通形.

あきらめなかった　is valid though.

i mentioned that i am looking at that sentence as a question (just that the poster did not format it properly, using finger spacing as seperators).

if it is a question and the answer is the last option then there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bunpou. i am NOT saying that あきらめければ is grammatically correct. please re-read my post carefully.

That statement was meant to be a question, like what u predicted, and now what i interpreted now.

Let me just clarify.

That statement was an option to choose between A, B and C

あきらめ_________

a) ければ
b) なら
c) なかった

maybe xiaoxin should clarify what he/she is trying to say?
