Only 1 JLPT per year. 1st sunday of december. Poly's teaching of japanese is insufficient even for the most basic of course. I suggest you take the course from the very starting again. Revising kana is not such a bad thing.

ok,actually i've asked my friend and he told me poly standard is also similar to that of outside beginner class...so could i like start from the 2nd part,where they learn more difficult words and also hanji.The difference between what i learn and JLPT4 i believe would be hanji.Ok,even if the exams falls on dec,could i like take a 1/2 year course in jan and ends somewhere in june or july then take the exams in dec?

but i see thru all the courses from the diff schs , dun understand sum stuff
if i like to learn from start, i take their basic course, den got wkday/wkend to chose from???
they also have alot of levels , but wad i wanna know is, in order to be prepared for jlpt 1, i nidd to take till wad level?

long time no check this thread...anyway, jcs courses typically start in jan. U can check up their website (easily google-able) or you may wish to visit the school at bugis.

bunka teach everything once and sometimes not very clear coz of time constraint.. and need to do alot of self study .. i need some lessons and practise in class that dont require so much of self study.

Bunka claims to be a good school with 'patented' teaching method, but no one here seems to say anything good about it. I guess Bunka is very hype?

Hi there, I've started out with Bunka, so far it's very fast and intensive. It can be quite caused us to be demoralized at its pre-advanced level (especially if your conversation is weak). However, I learn quite a lot - I found out that I pronounced lots of simple vocab wrongly... I could not comment about other schools because I hadn't attended them except Yano for JLPT 3 preparation.

hmm can anyone tell me roughly how long will it takes to be able to converse fluently in japanese? i mean if taking it intensively in singapore from those private school? i'm trying to convince my boss to sponsor me the japanese classes

Hi...i'm a newbie here. interested to take jap, was wondering if bunka, inoue or community centres better. I noticed that the starting dates for new classes for ikoma is over already. I just want to grasp the basics 1st, have time constrain once school begins in january so wanna take a short course 1st b4 committing myself to longer courses in future. any recommendations? are the standards of the cc courses comparable to private schools? of course, i understand that u can't expect too much given the price, but is it good enough for a beginner? thanks!

Well, how long did it take you to be "fluent" in English or Chinese?

Lets face it, unless one studies and lives in Japan, fluency is going to take a lifetime to achieve (if at all possible).

At beginner level, it doesnt make much difference where you study, because they will all teach you the same thing, ie the basics of the language. Whats more important is how much time you can spare for self-study. Because 2 hrs per week will never be enough to sustain the momentum of learning a new language.
