oh? i'm interested to know if he is still around at JCS. i think he is one sensei who deserves a lot of respect though his class could be quite stressful at times, lol!!!

i am beginning to feel uncomfortable with bunka's pace of teaching. Its like conducted tour , every part of the lesson seems to rush so that everything is covered within 3 hours. I can understand everything that is taught but i am afraid my foundation may not be strong due to the fast pace ( you may say its an excuse for lack of self study) The fast pace plus over emphasis on grammar makes the whole experience abit dry. Think of going to a school that has slower pace of teaching plus some cultural interaction or exchange to make things fun.

Finally took the courage to sign up for Jap class @ Ikoma.

Looking to start Basic 1 in mid June. Any seniors know how frequent they offer other level of courses? because seems like only basic 1 and pre-advance classes open for enrollment at this point of time.

Regret only now then sign up, definitely will miss JLPT at year end

There are pros and cons for teaching fast. Can cover more material in a short space of time so you save time, and of course money.

As for whether lessons are fun, I think alot of the time it really depends on your teacher and classmate. When I was studying Intermediate levels at Bunka I had a really good teacher and fun classmates, so it was a really great experience. But I've also been to other relief classes at Bunka where everyone's so quiet it's just boring...

you would want to consider IKOMA or JCS then

i due to years of contact with japanese drama/manga/music/anime found ikoma's basic 1 to be excruciatingly slow. was taught hiragana at roughly 10 per lesson. still have 4 lessons before i finish basic 1.

I've not studied there before but I think Bunka's method of teaching is rather fast. I would rather learn Hiragana and Katakana by myself first and use a self-help book to learn the basics, then go for an evaluation test.
