That book you mentioned is really fun and cute but although initially I found it good, it turned out to be of not much help. Cause there are so many grammar you need to know but it doesn't explain at all the grammar (like what dimitri said). It can at most let you know that such a grammar exist, its not even close to letting u understand it, much more use it.

Since you have Kanzen Master, you might wanna go for Ikoma prep class notes. And for that book you like, there is the Goi version, which I find more helpful (cuz no need for much explanation).

Can someone recommend me a good book that teaches grammar (preferably according to JLPT standards)? I have registered for N5 but I'm not sure how to start studying for grammar Was thinking of purchasing the Minna no Nihongo book 1, but I'm also confused about which one I should buy because it seems like I'll have to buy both the textbook and another book that translates the grammar is it?

Also, any website recommendations for studying N5 grammar? Preferably with good explanation and example sentences If such a website exists then I can save on not buying any textbooks

I'm not enrolled in any of the Japanese schools and I learn through self-studying (been doing so on and off for a few years but finally decided to register for JLPT this year ), that's why I'm looking for a structured grammar book for learning the grammar points

Also, i think that JLPT is just a piece of paper. Most importantly, must learn how to speak well. Have that aim in mind.

I have rejected at least 20 JLPT 1 holders who can't even converse like a N4 student in their job application.

i think this book is a good start. Kinokuniya Orchard should have it.
