Its been many years since i last visited this thread.
Thought of coming back and seek advice on how can i re-pickup Japanese again.

I completed my JLPT 2 in 2010 (2009 Dec exams, barely scrapped pass back then). However, my exposure to Japanese stopped shortly thereafter and have since been returned back.

I still have my materials for the grammars,Vocab etc. Was wondering how should i start over again with more emphasis on conversational usage this time round.

Any advice from the gurus here ? :s12::s12::s22:

Watch more dramas, do more shadowing.
Karaoke is also a good choice. =)

My wife had her Japanese language certificate but it was long way back. And yes i don't have any friend who will learn Japanese (i just want to learn because of my interest in Japanese drama/manga).
I started Chinese sometime back but in my class all were young kids (teenagers) and it was very hard to catchup, not sure if N5 you mentioned have adult learner or child?
And which school i should check? I live in West not sure if there any school here?

In that case, maybe you would wanna try learning with your wife together?

The N5 i recommend would have adult learners in the class.
You would wanna check IKOMA or BUNKA. They are in center though (Orchard area).

:D

are there any intensive classes at night from mon to fri?
i'm planning to migrate to Japan in future.

edit: is it recommended to take the japanese elective in uni? some people have advised me not to as those proficient in the language would naturally have an advantage over you

Haha if you want to migrate to Japan, you must start learning Japanese from now. So what if they have an advantage over you, the most important thing is to learn for your own knowledge (and use it in Japan next time). I am not sure which uni you are from, but NUS Japanese modules are one of the best in the market right now (from my own experience).

Thanks for the reply.
I'm a freshman from ntu this year, as much as I love the language, I don't want it to pull down my cpga and I don't know how good the teaching system is.
How fast does the curriculum go in terms of jlpt and how many hours are there per week?

usually the workload for language modules is on the high side.
i dont think its wise to take if u dont want your cgpa affected.
there are ppl who are pro and smoke say they dont know at all.

strongly agree with plutoplace. yes the workload is high with a seven hour week, but the training and grounding you get here is really one of the best in singapore

I'm hoping to buy 2nd hand So-Matome N2 grammar and voca etc. Anyone know anywhere selling? Of course, looking at around less than what kino is selling (after their 20%). Thanks a lot.

But I saw a lot of online sites, those people recommended this one. Especially those self-study. My sis bought N3 that day. I haven't run through it, but she likes it.

Can you recommend what titles are good?
