8時この近くに用事がありますが、家は遠くからここで暇つぶしするほうがいいと思います。

Can we try not to use so chim stuff?

I dont think its chim..just uses kedo, kara and te-form to conjugate the words. I changed koko no chikakuni to kono hen cause I think it sounds kinda weird although its correct if translated literally. The last thing that I changed is jikan wo sugosu to jikan tsubushi as what the author really means is killing time instead of passing time(literally). Again it is correct if translated literally but wrong in japanese sense.

my 2 cents.

any recomendation for english to japanese dictionary? no need electronic one, thanks!

NUS recommends Kodansha's Furigana Japanese Dictionary and Kodanshas Furigana English-Japanese Dictionary. Can find in Kinokuniya. But damn expensive.
If you don't mind reading Chinese, can buy Chinese to Japanese dictionary. I found mine in Bras Besar Complex, only $11.

I bought that from kino at $30+ when I started learning Japanese but I felt ripped cause I dont think it is very complete. I think I only opened the dictionary a few times until I found WWWJDIC and never look back

What kind of 'sensei' are you referring to? Btw, this is a common mistake but you don't call yourself a sensei, that's a title someone gives you. If you're referring to a profession you should use the name of the profession, example, lawyer, teacher, doctor, mangaka (all these can be "sensei's")

WWWJDIC is an online Japanese dictionary based on the electronic dictionary of Australian academic Jim Breen. The downloadable dictionaries data files (EDICT) contain around one hundred thousand Japanese to English translations, as well as the readings of several hundred thousand Japanese names. There are also several specialized dictionaries.

Quoted from wikipedia

If you have a windows mobile based device such as a pda phone you can install the dictionary into it as well.... very useful having a jap dict in your pda phone :D

below is the link for the dictionary application...follow the instructions there

For the PC version I've this software installed. It's very useful when you need to translate stuff while online.

It's like English. For example, "He likes to drink milk" can also be (Yoda-style) "Likes to drink milk, he does" or "Drink milk, he likes"
