Hello.
「私は女の先生です」 sounds weird... I mean who cannot see you are a female? :s22:

I think it's better to say by subject. E.g:
私は歴史の教師です。(I am a history teacher)

Hopefully it answers ur question.

Hello. I wish to learn Japanese and intend to pass JLPT3 this year. However, my only background in Japanese was a basic module in poly and I've already forgotten most of it (though it won't be hard for me to recap). Which school is best for me to register for part time courses (1-2 times per week) in order for me to achieve my goal?

Btw, I stay near Hougang. How is the Hougang Japanese school?

Hougang is quite ok... But sometimes can be noisy..the place is quite worn down... The teachers there are good.... Do MSN me, then i can advise u better. =)

Off-hand I can say that the poly module won't be of much help. It's probably the basic level equivalent in Japanese Language Schools. JLPT 3 requires one to complete at least up to intermediate level before you can attempt with a good pass (more than 70%). But if you're determined to take it is still possible with intensive self-study.

Hougang Japanese Language School really depends on the senseis. While I was there I had a good one, she created lots of additional notes for us unfortunately she is no longer teaching there.

Would you be able to afford the rates they charge? They aren't like normal Math, Science home tutors who charge like 9-10/hr. Japanese native tutors will charge something like $50-60/hr for personalised tuition. So it's better if you get 1 or 2 more people to join you instead.

there are many language schools in japan / korea that offer short-term courses. has anyone taken such courses before?

Usually around the end of February since the results need time to arrive in Spore and be sorted out by JCS.
