aionang> Nice to hear that you enjoy the classes in Ikoma. I only studied there from advanced onwards since the fees are quite expensive. And my foundation is not really strong since the I studied at various places and forgot most of the basic stuff due to the 2.5 yr lapse from NS (waste of time).

But actually the senseis do quite a good job explaining in Japanese but they will probably only switch starting from intermediate(?) or advanced level.

It depends on how much effort they put in mastering it,simple as that.

On another topic,sigh...I just came back from the airport after sending my japanese friend off back to Hiroshima...really sad:(.Time really flies fast huh. She's been with us for almost half a year and it's been really great hanging out with her:o.She learnt a lot from us just as much as I myself learnt a lot from her.Sigh,it'll be a while till I go there...

And in the next two weeks, two more friends are going off too.I never knew it could be that painful to see someone go.どげんかせんといかん。

Lastly,I can't wait to get the JLPT results soon.Just wanna see how I fare.

Intensive Course

Hi there, may I know which school offers the best intensive course to learn Japanese? My purpose is solely for travel/tour purposes (so that I can communicate with the people). I'm not going for the JLPT kind of course. I hope to learn the language within a few months. Any recommendations?

Anyway rangeress, sorry to put the truth out to you, but its virtually impossible to get from zero to being able to handle speech in a matter of months if you're not in Japan.

I totally agree with randomswing.

rangeress, for what you have in mind, you'll have to go to Japan to take one of those intensive 1 month language courses where you study, eat and sleep in the school.

jlpt results

haiz 2 kyuu is so discouraging. i didn't make it for the listening and grammar/comprehension component. I really don't know how to improve my listening skills.

xD watch more raw anime?
Listening without understanding is not going to help. If that's the case then the person who watched over 50 GB of anime should be able to pass JLPT 1 listening. But I doubt that is the case.

It's better to listen to those Japanese audio stories, Japanese radio programs or just general Japanese listening audio excercises. At least there is no visual element to distract you.
