Beginners should not jump straight to mainstream JPOP.
Besides, you may find your English going down the drain if you follow the lyrics.

I suggest this.

Hmm, last time, when i was young... i started from their Typhoon Generation->then Kansha Kangeki, etc... then lost touch of them, and jumped to V6, then now back to them... lol

How can jump from Arashi to V6..? I went from Arashi to Takki&Tsuba, NEWS, then Kinki Kids, V6 and SMAP.. But at the end of the day, I still love Arashi the most~ :D

Actually for JLPT 4, i don't think there's a need for a prep course, just get the book that keong recommended can le.... of course, in my library, there are better books like

基礎日本語文法教本 (ISBN:475740168X)
どんなときどう使う日本語表現文型200 初・中級 (ISBN: 9784757401747)
All About Particles (ISBN: 9784770027818)

and doing the JLPT papers.

yah, these books are very good... :D

I'm not even prepared for JLPT4, so there's no way I'm taking JLPT3... I'll just start with a small step.

I told my mother about taking JLPT4 and the very first thing she asked was "How much does it cost? Use your own money ah..." -_-; I am already planning to pay the registration fee and all by myself, so about the prep course... sigh. Must wait a bit longer. But I probably have to just self-study. :s13:

Anyway, my sister decided to drag me along to Bugis yesterday, and I took the opportunity to visit the Kino there. :D I looked for the book that keong-san recommended, but I can't find it. There're copies for the JLPT3, 2 and 1 but not 4. -.-; And I saw the book "All About Particles" too. But it's so expensive for a small book! But then again, all the books that I saw at Kino are ex. :s13: Must wait till I save more money... :D

thats good! all big things start with a small step forward...

JLPT 4 cost around less than $100 including transport costs, photo costs, etc excluding prep course fees...

self study is a good way to save money and u can approach experts (not me) here in HWZ if u have any queries...

i would recommend orchard kinokuniya in takashimaya to get the book... if u are free, i can accompany u on saturday (as i having class in IKOMA) to help u search the book...

i would advice u to register 1st, get the materials u need and prepare a study plan till JLPT 4 as now (assuming august) till JLPT 4 u have 4 months left...

don't worry, u are not alone... :D
