anyone been for any intensive summer courses in japan before? tried googling online but thought it might be better if i asked for advice from those who are familiar with these courses; i am looking at the summer holidays (may-august) but some of those which i found are strictly 3 month courses.

I'm not a sensei but I can help answer a little. Choosing a japanese language school would depend on your budget and your child's willingness to study.

Ikoma - Most expensive but very good in all aspects.
Bunka - Expensive but teaches faster than Ikoma as it uses a different method to teach.
The rest - Not sure

However, if you have the time to read through all the posts in this thread, you can find the answer that you are looking for.

hmmm a point to add, bunka recently revised their elementary syllabus from 2 levels to 3 levels. so should be slower than previously?

i chose bunka over ikoma eventually. althou i don't know y i chose that way. hahaha.

4. For 聴解: Listen to more Japanese stuff (drama/news) and try to understand them. You can download Keyhole TV to watch live Japan TV. Long 番組 will help also.

For listening, spend some time to write down what Person A say or Person B say.

For e.g : Person A say　ようか, then memo down as "8th", etc

Yeah but the problem is when i do the n4 book, I don't understand the vocab. Good thing i attended the prep class plus studied vocab whenever i have the time to that I'm now able to understand about 80% of it. Definitely going to try revising tmr. Revising my modules stuff alone is already taking up so much of my time
