Left speaker not working

I have Logitech Z623 speakers. Both speakers work fine when I connect them to my phone. But the left speaker doesn't seem to work when plugged into my PC. Have tried connecting directly to the audio jacks on my MSI B450 Max and to the chassis's front panel audio ports. The left speaker still won't work. Have also re-flashed my BIOS

Any ideas what other troubleshooting steps I can take?

Your speaker setting.
Is it one side mute?

Go test your 3.5mm Earphones see whether the same applies.

Check speaker setting, if correct then try to reinstall Realtek Audio Drivers.

Install Realtek drivers, connect to another port, use jack reassignment.

Tried with earphones. Left and Right buds work fine. Have tried both Realtek Universal and high definition driver, still no luck.

Not sure what's the problem here :/

Go try your Logitech Z623 speakers on your TV.
If it works can use it for your TV liao since not working for your PC.

Alternative is you buy cheap $20 USB Sound Card.
But if still same issue as your PC then also no use liao.

Windows 10 update driver can be tricky as it will install missing drivers
by it's own.
- Download the latest driver from MSI
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX#down-driver&Win10 64
- Disable/Disconnect any internet
This is to prevent Win 10 from installing any other driver.
- Install the audio driver
- Once audio driver is installed than you can connect back to internet.

If I am not wrong, using drivers from manufacturer.
There should be a pop up window or indicator that a speaker is
connected.

If even after installing the latest audio driver, it doesn't work.
Try another 3.5mm/stereo cable to connect from your PC to speaker.
If still doesn't work, than have to troubleshoot further.

sadly still no luck. deleted all my audio drivers, even the hidden ones and then reinstalled the realtek audio driver. audio still only plays from one speaker. it's definitely not a hardware issue on my speaker's end since it has no issues playing from my phone.

This is a new motherboard, so it could be that the motherboard has some stupid problem. Either that or Windows is being an asshole. If only there was a way to test audio in BIOS. Unless someone knows of some sort of PE to put on a thumbdrive that can test audio

Not sure whether the problem is hardware/software related or somethingelse-related...

If you have a 3.5mm Y-splitter... then connect both the speaker and the earbuds. Maybe the earbud has magic to fix it.

maybe u can try these 2 workaround first
1. if you connect to ur pc thru hdmi, u can connect your 3.5mm jack to the monitor, and change ur speaker mode in windows sound device to ur monitor.

i see ur monitor got line out. connect to that for this

2. i used to use my earpiece halfway out of my 3.5mm jack, so the system pushes the same sound on both channel. when u connect to ur pc, maybe u can pull out just abit, it might channel the same sound to both speakers.

some misc stuff u can try

u mentioned u wanna try with a pe? u can get a thumdrive, flash ubuntu onto it and try to play youtube video with it and u will know if its a hardware issue or not.

just confirming, you plug it into this?

software has ability to manipulate left and right speaker, feels like u can go and try play around with realtek software to see if u missed out any settings. if you need, manual is at this link:

I can't find a setting that mutes one speaker in Windows..

Try using Realtek HD audio manager, This utility should be in your PC if driver is installed correctly. You can download from Realtek or the driver CD come with the board.
Main volume bar L/R should be at the middle.
Otherwise you have problem with mother board or the audio jack at mother board.

How did you connect the speaker's to your phone? By bluetooth or 3.5mm jack?

I can think of 2 possible causes here:

1) Some settings set wrongly on your speakers in Device properties sound balance (You can adjust the volume for left and right speakers individually)

2) Audio cable or connector is faulty

connected with 3.5mm audio jack. Check the sound settings in Realtek. still the same.

The thing is, if the motherboard ports are faulty, will that have any impact on the audio jacks on the case?

I think it's more likely some weird driver issue. I'll probably try and load Windows on a different drive to see if it does anything..
