Lenovo Lappy Internal Battery

I bought an internal battery for my laptop directly from Lenovo. It came and I found out it was more than 2 years old, and it has only 0.02V charge. I guess it's leaked till it's in the over-discharge state. It will not charge. Vantage says it's degraded and needs to be replaced!

Anyone knows how or where I could revive it if possible? Lenovo service wants to charge an arm and a leg to come and take a look at a problem that should not have been there in the first place. The charge is higher than the battery itself!

I have tried the normal discharging the static, uninstall/reinstall the battery driver, connect to power and leave it overnight. All no use.

If it's been more than 6 months to 1 year, most batteries will self-discharge to 0% but still no permanent damage done. After 2 years, most likely gone case already because it will self-discharge to a point where the battery management system will cut it off for under-voltage and it cannot charge ever again. That has clearly happened to yours since its 0.02V. Lenovo needs to replace your battery with a working one under warranty.

Best to go back to Lenovo, saying battery is dead on arrival. Else u need to figure out the technical stuffs and force charge the battery for 20 to 30 mins and bypass the battery management system.

I will have a look at the video. Thanks. That would be my last resort.

I told the CS I wanted to claim warranty. She told me nothing more they could advise me cause they were not technical people and offered to send an engineer to my place. The cost is much more than the battery itself. It's ridiculous. I have to pay for their mess up? I expect this kind of thing from shady SL shops but not Lenovo.

I will wait another day to see what she comes back with.

newer laptops battery can have different pins out so google for the right one.

open up the battery n replace the dead 18650 cells/series.

Thanks guys. Lenovo/Serv link came back and is going to play the game that the battery was installed by me not them and therefore I may have damaged it. Wow. Really low class. I am probably more qualified than their engineers with due respect.

BTW, 2 of the 4 cells already a bit bloated. Feel like jellies also. Really bad.

if internal then its lipo cells, can also be reactivated or replaced. ply open the battery casing is the challenge.

No video. But within 30 minutes I sent them photos of what Vantage showed. Anyway, I just found a battery diagnostic utility from Lenovo. Apparently the health of the battery is still good. It has a final diagnostic result string that I think only Lenovo can decipher. So I am hopeful the battery is still alive; just the protection cct is locking it down.

BTW, after I s***wed the CS, pardon my expression, she came back to ask for that battery diagnostic report (sent me a wrong link some more and I had to find it myself). Let's see.
If the battery is still alive, my last hope is the external recharge if Lenovo really plays dirty. sian.

this need to go back to them or you can find a 3rd party can help you replace it..
but make sure that your MB is not effected.. if affect guess you start to throw away n buy a new one liao...

I think the lemon law applies in this case. The product arrived, but not working as intended. If they sell a battery by itself, it is normal that people will need to install. So they cannot shrug off responsibility.
