Cos 4 GB RAM is soldered on. They just add 4 or 8 or 16 GB in the second slot to make 8, 12 and 20 GB respectively lor... if the RAM is running on dual channel, the two RAM slots must run the same amount of RAM right?

This is likely a laptop from bulk seller and it is common to sell the laptop without the OS so that they can custom install the OS that the buyer wants. Hence they have to break the seal and install the Windows 10 OS for you. Or it is Chinese or Korean Windows and they activate it for you so that you get the English version.
