the dell Inspiron 24 7000 is ultra thin and ultra-stylish and is the thinnest 23.8" all-in-one desktop with Intel realsense camera able to accentuate any room in the house... :o

This one seems fun, but can also result in potential crime/fraud activity with other peole's faces:

The revolutionary Intel® RealSense™ Camera uses depth-sensing technology so your PC sees more like you do. Use the added dimension to scan 3D objects, control your PC with gestures, or create a more lifelike video chat environment. Reinvented video chat lets you customize your background, and share content with friends as if you're in the same room together.

Didn't know this realsense camera technology already exist in current Dell Venue tablet lineup:

Here's an excerpt by Tom's Hardware:

RealSense cameras feature three lenses, a standard 2D camera for regular photo and video, along with an infrared camera and an infrared laser projector. The infrared parts allow RealSense to see the distance between objects, separating objects from the background layers behind them and allowing for much better object, facial and gesture recognition than a traditional camera. The devices come in three flavors: front-facing, rear-facing and snapshot.

Right now, the front-facing cameras are most common, appearing on a number of new PCs and allowing all kinds of gaming, gestures and communication. Rear-facing cameras will arrive on tablets later this year and focus more on 3D scanning. The Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet is the first device with RealSense SnapShot, which is made just for still photography and allows you to change the focus or measure real distances in a photo after it has already been shot.

So this 3D RealSense Camera comes with 3 components:

Devices with Intel® RealSense™ Camera have three lenses: a conventional camera, an infrared camera, and an infrared laser projector. Together, the three lenses allow the device to infer depth by detecting infrared light that has bounced back from objects in front of it. This visual data, taken in combination with Intel® RealSense™ motion-tracking software, create a touch-free interface that responds to hand, arm, and head motions as well as facial expressions.
Expect amazing things from Intel® RealSense™ Camera. This is where it all changes.

How they do it sia?

I thought normally to replace background need to have greenscreen. Next time those Youtuber or Twitch streamer can just use this FaceShift and do away with it.

seems like it also have 3D Scanning.. with 3d printing the "in" thing currently, i can see people creating their own scans.

next time dont need buy figurines already. just go to the shop display, whip out your tablet, scan 1 time good 1.

bring home and ownself print :s13:
They already did that in practice....

Intel has a prototype tablet that can scan people's torsos and then 3D print them as decorative crystal paperweights.

The potential is there to create not just interesting paperweights, but fully-functional 3D-printed objects. Just imagine 3D scanning one screw in so you can print out another one.

seems like the Intel RealSense 3D is something like the xbox motion sensor tracking technology.. but its a conventional camera, an infrared camera, and an infrared laser projector which can track your finger and hand movements..

seems like will complement Windows 10..

Windows 10 for the win!!!

will definitely take a while before game makers or software makers consider it...

at least for now so few users are using this "new" Intel RealSense technology.

i see quite good potential for this. but then again, people may still prefer such movements in larger spaces like living room... for their consoles.

seems like the Intel RealSense 3D is currently limited to only a few devices.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/realsense-devices.html

but if borderless monitor then how to include the camera? :s11:

add a small arch to it ?
