Is Intel RealSense more advanced than Kinect ?

Should be. Kinect is quite old actually.

the good thing about this Intel RealSense 3D canera is that you can use with Window 10 Hello. Maybe in future with all Microsoft programs. Incorporate the Intel Technology with work programs rather than those silly and boring games.

anyway if want the Windows 10 Hello to work, probably the cameras have to switched on all the time if not cannot detect your motion, face, hand waving etc.

like what some forumer mention.. they may not like it because of privacy

Have to cover the Intel RealSense cameras if you changing otherwise hackers can see!

I tried kinect before at challenger funan when they demo the dancing games. Not that accurate. Don't think it is better than Intel RealSense 3D camera. The games that use these cameras are not fun at all. Initially maybe nice but after awhile get boring. Some more you may be fustrated when it cannot capture your movements.

Full agreed, sometime Kinect may lag a bit...anyway I am not a serious gamer, play for fun with family members...

I wonder the hardware spec for Dell Inspiron 23 7000 or Inspiron 15 5548 will affect the performance of Intel RealSense 3D Camera ?!

hmm I played kinect those sports game and dancing game before, I find it accurate leh.

but the con of kinect is the tracking I guess. if you see people play kinect at challenger demo, sometimes its not accurate is because got people walking in the background. this may interfere with the tracking and confuse the kinect sensors.

realsense tracking > kinect tracking but kinect distance tracking > realsense tracking

maybe next year realsense will improve on this.. but I know its kinda unfair to compare distance tracking since realsense is more for desktop/laptop usage kind.. I doubt people will want to play those dancing games on their desktop (or maybe there are? :s22:)

Is Intel RealSense more advanced than Kinect ?

i think both cater to different usages

kinect more of using whole body to interact with the games

intel realsense is more of using hands, arms, face to interact

but if realsense can cater to everything, that's the best right :s13:

Ya I think Intel RealSense mainly used for tablets/PCs/phones not for gaming consoles. Maybe Intel can support consoles in the future.

That depends on the points and rewards left. LOL.

Btw, their monitors have been at excellent price for the entry IPS ones. Got a lot for many people, and also one set of S2340L (the thing to get then) just for testing and diagnostics purposes. Maybe can consider monitor if other things run out...

Don't think I can earn points fast enough to redeem the stylish and ultra thin Dell monitors. :(

but the thought of buying a console + games just for the same experience kinda puts me off :s22:

*cough* PCMR *cough*

I think that is the reason why Dell incorporated Intel RealSense 3D Camera Technology in their products like Dell Inspiron 23 7000 and Inspiron 15 5548.

When consumer buy their product, not only they get AIO desktop/laptop, they also get this value added technology. :)

Why must always on the camera on Windows 10 in order to work? Like that not only invade privacy but also eat battery right. The software technology can always detect movement then on ma.

Dell and Intel 3D RealSense Camera with Intel® RealSense™ technology ftw~ Hope they can do sth about this.

3D printer not high tech meh. I saw on youtube they print a lot of real life usage stuffs like screwdriver, spanner and tools which are damn useful.

Maybe the Windows Hello can be enabled only when the computer is locked ?
3D printers can print metal objects too ?
I thought only plastic items.
