XPS 13 is a small powerful ultra book, seems to be buried under the papers or magazines?

I realised what88 can have his luxury of time to choose since everyone else around him has already bailed out. And also looks like Gribber (LOL) or kimsix still have chance at either DPC or bluetooth speaker should what88 bail out either one.

Actually Alienware got a new product called Alienware Steam Machine.

This one they should be targeting REAL console users. I see some potential to become a powerful threat to other consoles. There is a comparison between the two in the link above.

Hopefully Valve can squash out all the bugs and optimize it to be able to run games better than Windows.
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/...gnificant-performance-hit-for-steamos-gaming/

I think it is possible to provide a better gaming experience than Windows since Windows has a lot of unnecessary services and processes still running the background when you start the game. This means that the all hardware can be dedicated to running the game to run it at its best graphics performance.

Perhaps we will see more of such boxes in the future.. compared to laptop and desktop

With regards to today's video.. The Dell XPS 13 clearly is intended for the professional who takes pride in his work and style. It offers a long battery life and and it only comes with Intel HD graphics. Hopefully the Intel HD graphic card is able to run 4k content on the InfinityEdge QHD touchscreen.

Even though Dell XPS 13 tries to conceal and camouflage itself among the pieces of artwork, it still stands out with its vibrant IPS display, exhibiting the greenery scene in punching life-like colours, which contrasts with the duller colours of those actual hard galleries. However, it's signature borderless, paper-thin-like bezel and life-like greenery image, managed to fool me from certain angle at first sight, mistaking the image as an unframed photography work.

Does the turbo boost in Dell Inspiron 17 7000 or even the Alienware 17 R3 create unnecessary heat and battery power consumption?

The Alienware 17 R3 on battery estimated battery life was only a mere 5 hours, when using turbo boost, will the battery life shorten to 2.5 hours, this timing may not even enough for gaming at public places without power supply. :(

Of course it does. Instead of processor running at lower clock speeds, setting your power options to High Performance will force it at the highest. This means more heat and of course more battery consumption. That is why laptops have a separate profile for Plugged in AC and when on battery power. This way, you can choose to run at High Performance when on AC and Balanced or Power saver when you are on battery.

My advise would be to try gaming at the Balanced power profile and compare it with the High Performance to see if there is any noticeable difference when you are on AC.

I can only assume that the 18 hours on the Dell XPS 13 is probably on the 1080p InfinityEdge display screen and not the 4k one.. Probably power saver profile too. if can turbo boost and still 18hr its really godly haha

The link below can tell you more about how Windows Power Options. It is a good read.

All prices excluded Graphics Amplifier and even for PWP, the amplifer is going for $399?! I still read earlier it is $299 only. :p

I just noticed that the Alienware laptops offer touch screen from that picture!!!

Their website here make no mention of it at all!

Glad that Alienware did not remove the option from future Alienware laptops which allow them to cater to a broader audience.
