Looking at LG OLED 65 inch G4 or M4
Get 65G4, now is around 4K, November should be 3.5k, next year Feb 3.1k, May should be 2.9k or so. Price predictions so you see the depreciation trend and decide whether is it worth for you.

Hi all,

Just want to post in this group of my personal experience with LG OLED tv.

My LG G3 tv suddenly had a blue line at the bottom of the screen one day and when the LG technician brought the panel to change, he straight away scan all the corner for damage. Seems like its a common occurrence the corner will easily be damaged.

Lo and behold, he found a very very small crackline which I didn't notice before and straight away tell me this is considered as user physical damage, the 5 year warranty is not applicable, out of own pocket repair is 3k for the panel while I purchased the tv for 3.6k only a year ago.

After the technician left, I went online to do some research and it seems that its not an isolated issue when reddit also have a couple of people saying their TV suddenly have crack line at the corner without anyone touching it, LG also refused their warranty claim.

Seems like its an inevitable manufacturing defect which will happen eventually down the road but LG is just brushing it off as "user damage". So if you plan to get LG OLED because of the 5 year warranty, might want to reconsider again because of its fragile nature.

Did the Lg appointed technicians mounted the tv for you? Also, cannot let Lg get away with it. 3k for panel repair is daylight robbery.

I guess is their appointed technicians? The tv purchased from Harvey Norman and is 3rd party who came and install.

I followed up with LG online chat, basically repeating the standard reply that this crack-line show that it’s damaged due to external factor, 5 years panel warranty won’t cover, if want to repair, out of own pocket 3k for the panel and not inclusive of labour cost. Basically I kind of gave up at this point.

Just keep saying it’s my fault and won’t admit is manufacturing or installation problem.

No one in the right mind will purposely go and damage a 4 grand tv 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ya agree it’s hard and they seem to be overcharging for the panel. Lg should take some responsibility. Blow this matter up on complaint sg with some pictures. Get more people to be aware, will affect their sales

The ironic part is that when the 2 technician came up, they already brought up the panel in a sealed box ready to change the panel if need to, highly likely if LG is willing to just change the panel under “warranty” u know that the price we pay for each tv already included at least 1-2 panel cost price.

Once they came in, one of them tried to turn on the tv using some universal remote from their repair bag, not working and he started to use his phone to shine all corners of the tv and immediately spotted the crack, told me this is user damage and company won’t allow to change. Then I see he immediately took picture, report back company and next moment asking me how much I bought the tv, told him 3.6k, open his calculator app and showed me a cost of about 2930 if I want to change the panel. I stun and he say you consider and let the company know, I will report back about your situation and try to ask them provide a discount for the panel, he was packing up while saying and without giving me time to react, whole interaction only less than 10 min and they are out of the door. Before they walk out, I said they already bring the panel up, can they just change it? The guy say the spoilt panel need to bring back to company for them to investigate the root cause, if damaged and company finds out, is to be dock from his salary. I just stood there at my doorstep stun like kangaroo while they just carried away the panel.

Is LG protocol, but what they are doing doesn’t inspire confidence in me to buy their TVs anymore. Oled is very fragile and they should have at least changed the panel. Quoting 2,930 for a panel is daylight robbery. Should be able to negotiate directly. Best is to email LG too

To keep everyone who are invested in knowing more, I contacted the customer service and they stated their management willing to provide a '20%' discount on the panel out of goodwill but I have to bear the labour cost. Total amount if I willing to accept by tomorrow 7th Sep, the cost is
$2500 - $500 = $$2000
$2000+9%=$2180 after GST
$2180 + $218 svc charge =$2398 after GST is the price to fix for the panel crack

And adding to it, after changing panel, the warranty coverage for the new panel is only 3 months..

Knn I will be damn angry. If can tahan just wait may 2025 buy display set 65g4 or something, should be 2k ish with full warranty.

btw, just take photos create a new topic in this section, let the issue drag and don’t sign an agreement in Lg and don’t let them scam $2,398 from you. Everyday they drag, their reputation goes down the drain and more people will go for Samsung, Sony, Prism, TCL and Hisense etc. Blow the issue up, be firm and don’t let them bully you into paying. The cost of the panel is just like 100+ sgd only.

Quick update for all,

I emailed their customer service head representative on Friday (6th Sept) stating the evidence about other people suffering the same issue as me (Reddit post and even LG USA website review under the G3 tv listing), I emphasis that they should consider this being a manufacturing defect.

7th Sept (Sat), the same technician who came to my house called and ask if I am home, can come down to take more pictures of the tv for their internal review. They came, opened the TV and bypassed the motherboard with one of their own test board to force the OLED panel to lit up and the right side of the panel is totally busted with vertical lines of rainbow color. He took a few photo, took the whole tv photo, closed up and say he will send all these picture for company review.

Today (9/9, Mon), received an email from the customer service head representative,

Dear XXX,

Thank you for contacting LG Electronics Singapore

We have checked and based on the technician's report, the panel damage you mentioned is not covered by the manufacturing warranty as such repair charges would apply.

Replacement of the panel would cost $2500 before GST. As a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer you a 10% discount on the panel. Please do let us know by 13 Sept 2024 if you would like to proceed.

Yours Sincerely
Customer Service Head Representative

Cool story bro, $3699 down the drain within a year.

Any updates on the pricing for G4? My LG TV 65CX has a wavy horizontal line running across the screen after 4 years so might need to be replaced soon.
