Actually, the current Android OS and newest phones are quite good and powerful already unlike GB and JB days!

Unless you are a "apk" addict as per say!

I have stopped rooting and install custom rom since gotten my G Pro and now, the Note 3.

However, rooting is fun and keep one busy, to argue and back stabbing in the forums as well as keeping your mind and phone battery active at all times!

as someone said LG is slow in updating their rom, and there are not much 3nd party rom.

even now days, from 4.3 to 4.4 you still can see difference. I will not flash rom very frequently. But I like to at least to have option to try the latest version of android.
