I guess the different types of covers fit the different designs.
Later buy the wrong type then complain, bad for company reputation.. lol.
Mine is red too, no problem. I noticed the grain on the black on is coarser than my red one which is finer

The quick cicle case seems to follow the grain pattern of the actual leather cover.
Red and brown are smoother, black and mint are grainy etc.
