Happy to be back after a looooong miserable trip. Local food simply, the best! Anyway, personal yapping aside. Took some time to experiment on my G4 since, like many, I'm from the S/N 505 batch too so might as well make the best of it before it dies..

I ported over the V10 camera to my G4. Everything seems to be working fine for now. Pics look better on Auto mode and yes, video recording has manual controls too but at 30FPS. 60FPS got issue at the moment. Btw, I'm on Lollipoop V10F-SEA. Not too sure how it will perform on other version(s) of android. This method applies to both rooted and UNrooted devices. But if u are rooted, its very straight forward. Below 2 pics taken in Auto Mode. One with G4 cam module and the other V10.

Hi, guys, just got my phone back from LG SC, the mobo S/N started with 604. Will keep the phone on and use it for few days and monitor it. Still planning to sell it before warranty end (officially)

I did talk to the customer service officer. What she said is LG SG will do all the claiming for phone within the contract period. Then, I said this is obviously their hardware flaws, so for people like me, only left like 1 month warranty, after 1 month the problem hit me again then how? She said, so far, from what she know, S/N with 6 starting got no complaint yet. But if really got problem, the LG Mobile side will take it as case by case basis, no promise, and she can't speak behalf of LG Mobile SG until got further instructions given to her.

So, I guess, best bet is just selling off the phone asap for me. Not everyone really got the times keep going to their SC even they willing to repair it for free.

Actually, except this heart attack issue, G4 is a really nice phone, absolutely enjoy using the camera.. But.. too bad, with such hardware design flaw (I assumed) I really wan say goodbye to LG, won't want to get LG phone again. :\

LG's silence on free servicing past warranty period is typical penny wise pound foolish mentality. I'm just puzzled by the enthusiam over at the G5 thread. Have decided to boycott their phones from now on. No amount of advertising will entice me till this company show integrity and improve their service standard.

Till today I've been too busy to go down to the LG service centre, surviving on my old G3. Was planning to get the G5 when my contract is up for renewal in June but I am having serious doubts about LG's reliability now!

Here's the stupid thing about G4.

SD card and Sim card are in the same location.
You have to pay careful attention to know that SD card goes on top and Sim card go below, only in one direction.

When I took out the Sim card, I've forgotten about it.
And insert wrongly in the upper slot.
Nothing happens until I try to take it out.
Singtel had gaven me a stupid (nano) Sim on a adaptor.

When I try to take the Sim card out, the adaptor split (between the plastic and the nano SIM) caught the pins on the SD card slot since it was in the wrong slot. Now the SD card slot doesn't work.

I ended up paying for a stupid repair at LG, since they say it's my fault.

So be careful.

With all due respect but this is a user problem. They even placed a graphic representation showing that the sim card is under the sd card just next to the card slot. You can see it clearly.

And on the metal plate of the sim card holder there is a sim card logo indicating that it is for the sim not sd card. Again the graphic representation shows how the sim card orientation with the notch in the left top corner should go in first.

Even states MICRO SD, MICRO SIM.

Everything is stated clearly there.

eventually it shifted to the 'tray' layout with the end of removable backs which is less prone to human error but of course you need the sim ejector tool on hand from now on.

cars only get those recalls when there's like some regulation/law violation that blows up into a PR disaster for the company

for electronics, at most if there is a safety hazard (eg. the surface pro power connector) then will trigger recall

your phone getting a bootloop is not a violation of anything because theres literally nothing to violate, no regulation out there strong enough to hold such company liable. There is only the warranty, and the company's willingness to honour it.

like now the recent news with the class action lawsuit against motorola customer service. there wasnt any existing law to protect consumers from 'bad service', here in singapore if you know any friends who are OnePlus owners you can also listen to their customer service horror stories

the people who really got pissed off with LG need to use their influence to discourage potential future customers from buying LG phones. an individual boycott is nothing to such a big company
