Think what outbreak means is that his /her warranty is going to end next month :)
Thus going to the dark side and the flashing of custom Roms

What you mean you can finally custom ROM next month?
Is yours a SEA model or EU? Is there a going to be an unlock of the bootloader for SEA next month?

Oh btw, those who have root access on your yellow screen G4, you can temporarily follow this thread to temporarily correct the colour :)

Probably not caused by mobo. If there are screen distortions etc this could be caused by the ribbon cable not properly seated but it should be caught by the technician / engineer fixing the phone.

Yellowing of the screen is caused by the manufacturing process. Since my time with the G3. I noticed there are two different type of screens - one with a warmer tint and another with a cooler tint. This could be due to different manufacturers producing it / mass production leading to glue not properly drying* / Colour calibration.

*recalled from memory - do correct me if I recall wrongly.

Wrote an email in, and ended up got the same CSO getting back to me again *facepalm* was hoping to get someone from a higher management.
Told me the same thing again for the first 3mins... and I said to wait for a new batch to come in and give me a call and she is okay with it. Will call them on the 15th of June if I have not heard from them soon, cause my warranty ends of 30th June :(

Oh ya, anyone has good technical knowledge on phone?
Is it possible that the yellow screen can be cause by the mobo?(If so I can request to change that)
Or maybe the kernel display driver or something?

Wait, it affects the G4 dual as well?:s22:

Should not take long to flash. Do check with them with regards to that - call them maybe? :zotto:

Anyone knows how to get back LINE message that were lost after Restoring LGBackup???

After collection from Servicing, I restore back the previous LINE messages and start using. Then I Restored from LGBackup, which I back-Upped before servicing. After phone restarted, the LINE messages of the day were gone, only able to restored back what was Back-Upped in zip file...

How long does it take to repair your phone? I think my G4 warranty JUST ended and my headphone jack port only has sound coming from one side if i put in a headphone. Thinking of going to the ah beng shop near my place instead. They said if its just soldering work, $20 and 45 mins should be ready.

I think you should try taking it apart yourself. Look for those teardown guides, the headphone jack is basically not solder on rather it uses pressure contact, maybe all u need to do is reseat the headphone jack.

happy 1day anniversary, there goes the warranty

no of changes happened to my G4 after 1 year
- 1x motherboard (bootloop Dec 2015)
- 1x display (image retention)
- 1x camera
- 3x camera lens cover (DIY purchase and fix)
- 1x battery (DIY purchase and fix)

...and probably lost count of the number of factory resets performed thanks to all the KDZ flashing here and there to escape from horrendous marshmallow battery life

1 year of using this thing taught me some things
- im really not cut out for phablets cos i use one handed so often. this was the only phone i ever had where i had to be careful not to buy cases that were too thick (like spigen hybrid ones)

- learned to take photos in manual and gained a new appreciation for photography, as well as a new pet peeve with the lens quality used by LG, which is very apparent with light sources at night (hence why i bought so many replacement lenses). Going forward I dont think I'll ever use a phone with non manual cameras (that means no more sony)

- LG is fast at software updates (got MM faster than samsung), but implementation sucks with battery life and SD permission woes. "Stable is more important than new" was a new mindset I have now towards mobile OS

- Still wish i can go cyanogenmod with it though.

- 1 year on, Im still happy i didnt go leather back, seeing all the wear and tear of display units in shops.

Hmm, have you tested it with more than one pair of head phones?
Do check for lint from clothes that are inside the jack as well.

It seems like quite a number of people are getting the screen burn out issue. LG's Quantum display is really disappointing.. To add insult to injury, the G4 bootloader is fully locked down, so you are stuck with their crappy stock ROM. This will be my last LG phone. They will be in my blacklist until they wake up their ****ing idea!

Received my phone back with new mb, but the screen heating up issue isn't really resolved, it still doesn't cool down as fast.

G4 is the best chance that LG have but too bad. They gained & also lost a lot of fans at the same time.

Unfortunately. :(

It had all the elements to propel it to greater heights and make the brand greater

- innovations such as scratch recovery coatings, use of flexible organic led screens (Gflex and Gflex2)
- large following after a successful run of great phones - Gflex2, G3, G2, Nexus devices (Nexus 4, Nexus 5)
- a great immediate predecessor - The fuss free & reliable G3
- an improved camera over its predecessor
- a nice performance bump
