No they won't be selling the covers separately.
We spoke to LG on this.

Not to worry, there are many choices to choose from in
the next couple of months, especially from third party
suppliers, unless LG stops them on copyright issues.

Oh ya, I heard about it saying G4 is 98% of the colour spectrum while S6 is 110% (or some other percentage)? Looks fine to me though.

98% of DCI yup. That's why I thought it was more accurate. Apparently it doesn't mean the screen is accurate :/ the screen looks great to me too. Maybe once I have the unit in the hand I wouldn't bother about this anymore Hahaha.

BTW, awesome shots yamihamir! Looking really awesome!

In other news, GSMArena has an article saying that the S6 may have RAW support in an upcoming update along with manual controls.

You can buy those add-on cover options to protect the front and back - they don't have plans to allow purchasing more back covers.

So purchase your preferred rear cover finishing wisely.

We believe it's something to do with not having the ability produce the quantity of leather back covers as it takes time to 'harvest' and craft them.

hopefully all available at launch then can buy all the covers!!! this is my only decider to purchase or not or wait :s13:

Yup, we're sure third-party cover options are the way to go.

But we doubt there will be such high quality options as those offered on the G4 by LG.

I guess we'll have to say what the market offers.

some 3rd party company will sell it then :)

Best to have a calibrated monitor screen for better appreciation of the photos taken so that there's less of a mismatch in expectations.

Sounds like the competition is heating up :D

A wise option is to get one in your hand as soon as it is
available so you can enjoy the camera shooting great awesome
pictures.

Get whatever back covers and colours you want when they are
available. Remember time will tell if that leather covering
will be soiled from the sweat in the palm of your hand from
daily usage.

LG will have to have option for owners of the phone to get
and replace a new back cover. Now they refused to sell it
because the phone is not available yet.

The market force will give hints as to the new directions
they have to move accordingly.

yeah I read that too! Hmm.. I think highly possible that Note 5 will have manual controls like G4 and raw support. Maybe they might go for f1.4 for their lens.

Seems like the camera race has hit a new point haha. But that's good! Things should only get better from now on.

In any case, any of these cameras do so much better than my Xperia Z. Can't wait to change to the G4!

Talking about Sony xperia, it's rumoured that the recently announced Japan only z4 will be branded globally and launched as z3+ and that in September or October, Sony will release an all new, totally revamped phone, with new design, new ui and finally new camera sensor! They have been using the same sensor for almost three years! And I think apple is planning something big in their camera dept too as news just reported that they bought alot of Sony sensors Haha! Yeah this is just the beginning for mobile phone photography!

erm.. you can change under the front camera settings for 1:1, 4:3 and 16:9 dont need to crop

What i meant was, the sensor itself got widest view on 4:3 mode. So it's best to capture photo with this mode so you can crop it later to your liking rather than stuck in the cropped image format in first place.

I submitted "Night shots" and "Selfie/Wefie shots" on the dateline yesterday.

As you can see from the pictures posted here and elsewhere, the 16megapixels back camera is superb.

Now here is the bummer and it could be a make or break for some of you.

The front 8megapixel camera used for selfies is horrible.

Pushing as far as my hands can go, changing the "beauty slider" and testing in different best light conditions, the selfie's camera seems to take shots that have sharper background and leaving the subject seemingly out of focus.

The "watercolor effect" found in most older camera sensors by Sony was also apparent. Just a little less light will make that effect worse.

Please note that the effect is like Sony's older sensor but the front camera here is using 8MP Toshiba T4KA3 sensor.

I can't help but be objective in talking about a product that people are going to spend good money on it.

Having said that, I believe both the focusing issues and watercolor effect can be corrected with software update.

Maybe the watercolor effect will take more time to find the right balance of solution.

Direct link of picture: http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad353/khairulism/20150506_181819_zpsvx31ndfj.jpg

Isn't the watercolor effect caused by the beauty slider? Put it to zero and it should take care of that issue...

I thought 4:3 is standard aspect ratio? and 16:9 is the wide aspect ratio?

liddat then me not handsome oledi :D

On a serious note, the changing of slider test was mostly done to get rid of the sharper background and I did put it to zero.

I am not much of a selfie guy. Take it as a heads up.

If anybody who have used the front camera for selfies a lot in the past, do post your views here as mine could be very inaccurate.

i think selfie camera...8mp is not bad but...when in low light..it will not perform well.

which also means the front sensor is 4:3 format. just saying it given more room for editing afterward, like you might want to show more of the top/bot of the image after that.

F1.4 is too much for a mobile device. It will also post issue light fall off at corners, distortion, additional bulk. I think samsung will go with the range of f1.9 to f1.7 or maybe move to imx230

The main reson I'm still holding on to me Lumia 1520 is the rich capture, 4 HAAC mic and unrestricted 4k video recording at 30fps. G4 video recording is very weak imo

Yeah heard about that too! I've actually been a supporter of the Sony Xperia Z line of phones. The Z3 was great but I felt it should've been better in the camera department. I would like to get the new Z5 but my plan has expired since March and the Z4(Z3+) was really a big let down. Playing the waiting game for too long isn't good too.

EDIT: Speaking of Sony... I just saw this on GSMArena - http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z4_compact_rumoured_to_be_announced_next_week-news-12176.php

I'm just glad the G4 came out and was announced during this period of time and that I didn't jump into getting one of the older flagships. Really looking forward to owning the G4! I guess the Z5 mayyy be good but then I'd have to wait and wait. I don't have much faith after what Sony did with the Z4 and the way they're changing up their strategies. Maybe I'll go back to it when their Z6(or 7 or 8 or whatever) is good. I just hope they're still around then haha.
