Hmm.. So theoretically, u are saying one may end up with a new board which will have a year and month at the begining of the serial number or a supposedly, spare/salvaged one if it doesn't? Btw, thanks for the clarification but just curious, how did get to know the one with no year and month are spare/salvaged units? Tks.

That's the problem I ask the collection staff if my warranty will reset to another 1 yr but no the staff said will just continue which will left another 6 months. Basically the staff at the collection counter seems does not know anything or acting blurr so I just left a feedback form and left.

First 3 number of the serial no. Indicates manufacturing date of the board so assume its "NEW" I dont think LG will risk putting refurb parts and declare it as new.

Mine is not affected so far (also S/N 505). But as of now, all files are backup to SD card as well as into my PC on a daily basis. And, I am also bring my old backup phone wherever I go.

Hi guys,

I had my phone screen go dead on me just mad pixels not exactly a cracked screen. Bought a replacement screen(s$60 from aliexpress) and switched it perfectly. Question is would I still be under warranty if I head back to a shop to say get repairs done if the phone dies on me. I bought the phone on the day it got released as well and seeing how there are a bunch of owners with dead phones it scares me. Also is the bootloader finally unlocked? And also i'm on a rooted phone with xposed install on version 10C would it be advisable to upgrade.

For the new board is there any indication of the year and month on the serial number? Someone I know got it channged and he says it no longer reflects the year and month on the serial number of the new board.

If there is no indication then how do you know its 512?

LG may have changed the structure of the s/n number on the label so as to not give the manufacturing date away.

Perhaps, you can check on this website on the ESN Date (Production Date) and see if it is indeed Dec 2015.

I'm still using a 505 set and ESN Date is 14 May 2015 for mine. No sign of bootloop yet..
