roller coaster? more like downhill ride. Having lusted after and used G3, G4, I think LG got it all wrong with the G5 in so many ways: marketing, positioning, timing, features, size, price. I was really hoping for something much better, released much earlier -- i even stayed up to watch the announcement. The mismatched colour schemes of modules and phone, the need to shut down the phone when changing modules, the stupid 'friends' name for 'modules' were just too much to bear.

Sadly, in the end, I migrated to S7 edge instead. Considering how much i disliked s5, s6, note 5, the S7e has turned out to be quite a revelation. To make matters worse, the release date is only 16 april and the gift(s) is just the battery/battery case.

Looking forward to G6 instead.

looking at all the news, the reviews etc, I would say LG Mobile is in for a roller coaster ride, a storm is coming man, they better be ready.

at least it kind of shows some people still care enough about LG, other companies like sony and HTC can only dream of people still caring about their phones.

currently all of the 'bad rep' the G5 is getting purely comes from the viral circulation of the videos from erica griffin and jerryRigEverything. Like bendgate in the past, its the sort of thing that easily riles up consumer attention.

Nobody bothers with videos that came out to gush how awesome a product is because its so easy to dismiss that as pure fanboyism. But a lot of people are naturally drawn to negative stuff and bandwagon on the hate train which can easily get out of hand.

eventually when the people get tired of harping on the G5's gap or plastic/primer coating and the real reviews start to flow in, then the proper complete picture of the phone as a whole will start to emerge.

for myself however, i've already decided since MWC that this isnt a worthy upgrade to the G4 so I dont need to worry about buying a 'bad' device. i will admit originally during the bootloop saga i was contemplating trading in the G4 for G5 especially since my recontract period is this year, but MWC's reveal has reversed that decision for me (battery was immediate dealbreaker and lack of camera improvement didnt help)

I think the diehard htc fan will still care overseas. Foe Sg not sure.

Let's be real here. It is a Samsung monopoly for Android.
The market share is not even close.

Same, I hope HTC 10 will be one great phone(with an attractive price) especially with the current dying situation that HTC is facing, it really needs an power phone to revive themselves~

HTC fan here as well. Nothing beats the lightweight and responsive Sense UI.

im amused how fast they took to respond.

so you guys know what to do. If your G5 bootloops 6 months down the road, dont go and count how many people bootloop, dont go and make petition. Straightaway contact erica griffin ask her make youtube video and hammer LG :s13:

Indeed.. LG is so afraid that their G5 sales will flop. You need to hit them where it hurts!

But Singapore only a tiny market for LG right?

Most probably.. LG does not have a good reputation in SG anyway. Their customer service centre really sucks. I heard Huawei got even a faster and better service than LG.. Not sure whether it's true.

I am gonna avoid these two S.Korean companies when I am upgrading my phone next time!
