My G5 is having screen retention problem now after prolonged screen time. Anyone have the similar problem and solve it?

mm weird didn't know lcd screen has this issue, thought this issue of screen retention was more on amoled screens.

my g pro 2 used for 3 years but no screen retention problems other than clear signs of the lcd dying on the sides as the colours got slightly washed out.

I went to LG service center on Saturday and was told that they know about the image retention. However, the best thing the LG guy can say is that there is no official solution to this problem and changing the screen is costly. He mention that there are already G5 users with this issue and coming to the service center. So no solution, the best advice which is so helpful by him is to off the screen and let it rest. :s13:

I used G3 and it was perfect but G5, haiz. I notice this issue because I use my phone to study. When I was reading my notes and letting the image on for certain time, I realised I can see my previous notes there. That's when I started noticing the notification bar having this issue. The remains of whatsapp icon was there.

Sian, no choice, I no money to keep changing phone and am tired of this kind of issues. Everytime take new phone and this kind of things happen, very waste time and effort. Start to realise nothing is perfect and thus move on. :)

They told me its the nature of "quantum ips display " used by lg g5 and lg g4 .......

I wonder can this screen gate be considered manufacturing issue as LG is the only company that has the screen retention issue? Of course they would be unwilling to replace the screen but it is under warranty nor they advertised the screen gate in their ads.

Seems like LG only produce poor quality screen for their flagships. I wonder if LG V20 is also affected?

This issue was there since the G4. I thought in G5 it will be solved. But I think for quite many months I didn’t see this retention issues until quite recently. In my G4 even after the reolacement it came back pretty quickly. I guess it is time to move on from LG. I really like them a lot but I can’t take this anymore.

Most probably the V20 will have the same issue and the potential boot loop.. :o

Those guys in the samsung forum must be so grateful that outbreak isnt a samsung user else he go to their forum and troll nonstop about how the S8 will have the same potential battery issue

My G4 had it and they said it was due to the quantum display stuff or whatever hence they changed it to a new one that was no longer quantum display early this year.

If the G5 has the issue as well it probably means they were also manufacturing the displays way beforehand and it was too late to change.

update: my mother's G5 has hit the image retention issue. not surprised cos she always max brightness
