Just a fun post, my cases arrived from Aliexpress, now both my phones are protected with similar metal side bumpers and back covers. Like the feel, but not as good grip as my silicon and rubber cases.

do these kind of metal cases have sharp edge or any abrasive risk for their inner side being in contact with the actual phone?

I've always been unsure how suitable metal is for being a material for phone case, for me I always go with soft matte silicone cos rigid ones are brittle and matte surface has the grip advantage

I have two of this case as well, and no it doesn't cause any abrasions to the back of the G6 when sliding the back cover over it, as there is enough allowance in between.

The corner rubber bumpers are really nice, adds excellent protection against bumps. The case looks really nice too.

One thing I noticed is that the case tends to block reception in some underground locations, like in Scarlet Hotel once where my visitor stayed in a room that is below ground level. I had to remove the case inside the room to regain signal. No issues in mrt tunnels though.

The metal bumpers have thin padding on the sides to prevent the bumpers from scratching the phones. I took out my phones and checked the sides, not scratches whatsoever so I guess the padding do what they're supposed to.

Anyway, I'm just having some fun with matching cases for my G6 and Z5P, I'd prolly switch to TPU or silicon type cases when the novelty of having matching cases wears off. I have various cases to choose from.....

Hello all..wondering if you are experiencing the same thing as me. My g6 camera don't really impress me, especially in low light or when i zoom in on further objects...images become blur, not quite what i read online about its camera review. Is it related to the hdr function?

Read somewhere in this thread that there's a plastic cover on the camera lenses too. But i can't seem to find it on my phone though.

Need advice on tips to take sharper pictures...thank you!!

Since F1 is at night, auto mode may trigger the "low light processing" to improve image quality (you can tell because EXIF data for the pics will be ISO-0) but the processing will be more time consuming


Shooting in manual with AE-L enabled will also have auto ISO and auto shutter, but it will never invoke any special processing. However the image quality for low light will be quite bad in this case

The only drawback is that noise reduction reduces the natural detail level and it does take some time to process after you hit the shutter.

Oh yeah I realise that now as well after you point it out. Yes that toggle is now a thing for manual mode, previously it just kicks in only in auto mode when its sufficiently dark

If you hate the oversharpening artifacts seen in low light, the NR toggle is an absolute must, even if you shoot full manual. It also means you'd have to rely exclusively on the stock camera app as it literally is the only app that can do this special noise reduction.


I do have quite a lot of stock apps and trying them out, I can confirm all of them cant do this noise reduction, except maybe Snap Camera HDR when it is using Night scene mode and using HAL rather than Camera2 API (weird combination of criteria but yea...)

Actually G6 is sort of a downgrade of camera, G4 used to be really impressive, then comes G5 with a 8mp wide angle as supporting role. They decided to have both camera with same pixels count for G6. G6's IMX258 sensor is used on midrange phone like OnePlus X and Xperia XA. So yeah you're getting 2-midranger camera in one phone. kinda sad that they downgrade the front camera from 8mp to 5mp too even for the V30.
