Does LG have a secure folder function like Samsung? where it's like a phone within a phone with the ability to install apps, take pics etc all within the secure folder environment.

Sent from Samsung SM-G935F using GAGT

secure folder is a samsung exclusive thing

you can even tell by seeing it on the play store, its an app that can only be downloaded to samsung devices

Hi all, I just bought my G6 frm Kasia, and was told that the phone is covered for 2 years warranty.
but a check with LG, I was told that 2 years warranty is applicable for authorized dealer only, and Kasia is not 1 of them.
therefore I'll only be covered for 1 year.
is that true?

thanks in advance.

after about a month or so of use, kind of feeling that the V10g update made battery worse. Can even see that phone idle seems to be the largest contributor of battery usage, percentage wise

starting to get a bit of deja vu here with past experience on the G4 and their horrendous marshmallow update in early 2015

im not sure, i thought the 2nd year of warranty requires registration then can get it. Didnt know about the authorised dealer part, I mean if that is really true then it'll only apply to telcos as those are literally the only authorised dealiers listed on the LG site.

todays mid autumn full moon very visible in clear sky

this is done using a clip on lens, with additional digital zoom from the main camera which is why when viewed at full res, the oversharpening seems more present.

For comparison, my G4 using the same clip on lens

I tried this apk mod,
http://phandroid.com/2017/08/30/google-camera-mod-working-auto-hdr-plus/

Only works for main cam, image is much much better in low light than default cam app. Can't figure if there is any options for wide lens tho.

there was some news about this a while back, G6 users reported low light HDR+ has purple tint especially in scenes without light sources in the view. I tried it and also experienced the purple that was described.

example taken from reddit post

i wouldnt use it for outdoor night shots but its still handy for stuff like high contrast indoor scenes. And it doesnt oversharpen like the stock app does.

Wide lens isnt supported of course. Even among many 3rd party cameras, only a tiny percentage have wide angle lens toggle.

The modded lens blur is kinda fun to play with for me :s13:

Don’t see why not. The imei number is the more important piece of info :zotto:

Hello everyone,
I’m new here. I’ve just bought my LG G6 a week ago from a man who recontracted with Singtel. Reason I wanted to buy it is because I want to try Android (used Windows Phone and currently using iPhone 6S). What I want to ask is who can I register for the additionally 12 month guarantee by LG?
The seller did provide me the recept from Singtel. Am I able to register the guarantee under my name while the name on recept is of the seller?
Hope someone can help me. Thank you!

finally emailed LG and they confirmed Smart Doctor cant have its notifications disabled. They even said, and I quote:

"The notifications from Smart Doctor are suggestions to help optimise phone usage"

So im basically now getting at least 2-3 notifications a week from smart doctor telling me that stuff like Swiftkey "has not been used in a month but still consume memory". Like seriously can you imagine the sheer stupidity of a 'smart' doctor app to misdiagnose a feature that I literally use every day.

sounds very trivial but getting spammed by notifications can really grate on one's nerves over time. Once again I am contemplating whether to do what I did with the G4 and factory reset and permanently hold off all OTAs indefinitely. Or maybe theres some way to get rid of the app via ADB, like doing the adb shell pm uninstall command

i think thats only supposed to stop notifications on the lock screen?

im referring to notifications from the notification shade. Those can only be blocked by going to App Info > Notifications > Block All toggle.

If you look at Smart Doctor, it doesnt have the Block All toggle at all. In fact I already know about the Silent notification and it's been long-disabled on my device.

Now ordinarily I'd be ok with ignoring it but on my phone it seems to find one new excuse or another each week to notify about one app or another app that is apparently 'consuming memory' or 'has not been used for a very long time'.

Because smart doctor didnt behave like this prior to V10G OTA update, I have to wonder did something in the OTA mess up this system app.

UPDATE: anyway I've gone and done it

adb shell 'pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.phonemanagement'

...and hopefully thats the end of my smart doctor notification spam

very naggy smart doctor :(

I had a similar experience with my G4 cos I refuse to upgrade to marshmallow due to the bad battery life in the earlier OTAs of it, the phone's software update app wouldn't stop nagging me to download the OTA cos it already detected an update.

You cant root a non european LG phone....

The command is an adb command

Removing smart doctor actually does seem to improve battery life. I need more monitoring over the next few days but already I can see my phone idle which previously was 10% can now be as low as 3%

But after another OTA, smart doctor would still be reinstalled right?

repeating the ADB uninstall command is not that troublesome to do. Anyway I'm actually ok with a bit of bloatware on phones as long as it doesnt interfere with user experience. What happened with my smart doctor was a clear interference with user experience so I got rid of it. Other LG apps like QuickMemo dont spam me twice a week.
